Ch 7 would be very happy with 624,000 for a Thursday.# 7 show for the night.

Way ahead of the NRL again on 301,000 with only 163,000 tuned into 9 in Sydney # 20 and the AFL 15,000 ahead on Fox.

Interesting to see reach figures get published regularly.....seems to be about double the average.

I would have thought that the reach / average ratio would vary based on the closeness of the game. Perhaps they provided reach figures for last night and the showdown as the would have lost a lot of viewers when the games blew out?

I think you're right. Last week the reach was just under double, last night it was just over.

Channel 9 must be wondering if they can get better metro numbers by running reruns of Big Bang Theory and CSI at a fraction of the cost.

That's why the aren't willing to pay anywhere near as much as 7 pays for the AFL. Can't see it getting any better either :)

Would be interesting to see how much the regional stations pay for their share of the broadcast rights. Given the production quality of the ads and the fact that I always see the Commercial Club in Albury advertising on AFL games I watch in Mansfield I wouldn't have thought it would be much. Regionals make up about half of NRL but a quarter of AFL.

Interesting to know the breakdown actually. Outside of the 5 major cities the populations in nsw and qld compared to the traditional afl states. Obviously tassie adds 500k, geelong etc but rugby has north qld and central coast.

What is the actual definition of reaching in this sense? There's a lot of grey in that and clearly being used as spin to make it look better.

But given lockdown and fact people aren't going out as much, these numbers aren't as good as they are making out
.

Reach is the total number of unique viewers - I believe there's a minimum period that they need to watch to weed out people that just flick through the channels (i've heard a minute mentioned, but I'm not sure that's still the case).

Im not sure how you arrive at your conclusion if you dont even know what the definition of reach is.

Reach is the number of people who watch for a minimum of 1 minute.
