That's probably worse for any club doing a rebuild.I highly doubt there will be another football kicked in the AFL Competition in 2020 so picks should just carry over to the "next" time there is an actual AFL Competition draft.
All 2020 picks suddenly lose value - someone who is top ten this year becomes top 20 in a combined 2021 draft. Therefore, the premier gets the equivalent of a top 10 pick, and instead of a bottom side getting a couple of goes at an early pick, they only get one.
I think a reduced draft makes sense. Gives the lower teams two or three speculative bites at the cherry this year (probably from retired players) and the overflow players roll into 2021. Any points earned for 2020 that aren't used roll into 2021.
