Grand Final
  • Congratulations to Richmond, 2020 Premiers!

Here is the draft order as it stands after the Grand Final:

Free agency starts Friday, and the trade period opens on the following Wednesday.

I'll do the best I can to keep it up to date through that period, but as always I am one person so please be patient :)

Adelaide receive an end of second round pick for Rory Atkins
  • It starts.

Adelaide receive an end of second round pick (currently pick 36) for Rory Atkins, who has joined Gold Coast as an Unrestricted Free Agent:

Hawthorn receive a third round compensation pick for Isaac Smith
  • Hawthorn receive a third round compensation pick (currently pick 43) for Isaac Smith, who has joined Geelong as an Unrestricted Free Agent.

^Pretty sure they mucked this up. 42 is Hawthorn's original 3rd round pick after the Atkins compensation. Their Smith compensation is actually pick 43, which slots in directly after their original 3rd round pick.

Also had some formatting issues with the Atkins update, had a couple of Richmond's original picks in the wrong colours – it has been sorted out now.

Essendon receive first round compensation pick for Joe Daniher
  • GWS receive a first round compensation pick for Zac Williams
  • GWS receive a first round compensation pick (currently pick 10) for Zac Williams, who has joined Carlton as a Restricted Free Agent.

Fixed up the compensation pick colours too. Although I have a couple more to add now so they'll probably break again.

GWS receive a second round compensation pick for Aiden Corr
  • Langdon (GWS) to West Coast for pick 54

  • McKernan (Essendon) joins St Kilda as an Unrestricted Free Agent
  • Shaun McKernan (Essendon) joins St Kilda as an Unrestricted Free Agent.

There is no compensation due to the contract offer being too low to qualify for Band 5.

As I stated in his player thread, this one has been misreported as a "Delisted Free Agent".

He was already an Unrestricted Free Agent because he had already been delisted twice prior to 2020 (once by Adelaide years ago, and once by Essendon when they re-rookied him a couple of years ago).

Thanks to that, he qualified for lifetime free agency when that came in last year, and was an Unrestricted Free Agent the moment he came out of contract, whether Essendon chose to delist him or not.

So while he was not offered another contract, he is not a "Delisted Free Agent". Delisted players are still tied to their clubs until the end of the trade period, they don't qualify for free agency until after the next list lodgement date has passed.

The proof for this is that AFL House specifically said he is an Unrestricted Free Agent, and he has moved within the Unrestricted Free Agency period.

DFAs also don't qualify for any compensation at all, whereas this one did qualify to be assessed for compensation, but didn't get any because his contract offer is too low to qualify for Band 5 (which are the rules that apply to a UFA).
