I had a good day. I rose early and tilled some ground, preparing to plant a gaggle of heritage fruit trees. I shoveled and sweated, turning over clumps of sweet smelling earth, and mixing in our sure fire organic starter.

I taught my boy how to plant...smiling as we plunged our hands deep into the ferrous red loam. Trees were firmly staked, and we took our sage elderly neighbours advice of creating a wind break for the avocado.

As we finished the heavens opened as if on cue..like the universe rewarding our good deed. I ached with satisfaction...I felt wholesome...complete.

And tonight that same universe returns to completely **** my week by gifting the Tiges another flag, and remind me that I'm shallow enough to crack it over a bunch of sweaty blokes chasing some inflated hide. Pricks.
