Hollands I see as quite a bit different, despite the same roles as underage players.

Tarryn Thomas is nowhere near a certainty to transition into a full-time AFL midfielder.

We have Zurhaar in a similar role also.


Most definitely not a role we need to fill with a top 10 pick, unless they are supremely confident he can develop into an AFL midfielder.


If he didn't, committing 2 x top 10 picks on medium forwards within 3 years would be an issue down the track.

Especially when we have so many other pressing issues all over the park.


I'd be in favor of taking him if we can generate a 3rd top 20 pick.

I'm genuinely hoping Phillips starts to slide, getting him with Melbourne's pick would be a dream result.


Hollands is a different case, he's a midfielder in the long run imo and an extremely damaging one. His ceiling is enormous (Dustin Martin/Gary Ablett Jnr type ceiling), you just take those types regardless of position. Similar to Rankine in a way.

David Dench, Ross Glendinning, Wayne Carey & Jock Spencer couldn't have reversed the result from that crap today.

Backline gets absolutely no support from the midfield. So they are forced to chase tail as oppo mids shre they ball through the middle until they can hit a leading target.
The forward line is a hodgepodge mess.
Larkey is injured......he ain’t right.
Wood is completely void of any confidence and therefore ability.....he’s gone.
Garner first game since I don’t know when.
JZ is purely out there as he’s trying to be the captain.....shouldn’t be playing
We have no, none, zilch, nada any small forwards, and these 3 above blokes offering pretty much nothing.

Agree with everything you said. But someone like DGB could have been good today intercept marking.

Agree, he looks terrific. But, DGB gunna be a good player in a side who pressure the oppo midfield. Just like Barrass and MCGovern, as the ball then gets kicked in the air.....not lace out or over the back like it is against us.
Anyway, even if he was playing for us, the way they are being told to play DGB would’ve just kicked the ball backwards or sideways anyway....then next minute ball is back with him.
Game plan is our major worry IMO. It’s frighteningly outdated and complete shit.

Brady is too pragmatic to be under any illusions about where we sit. I’d be surprised if Finnigan was under any other instructions other than best available. This is a 3-5 year job.

Exactly - there is no need to draft for “need” when you have as many as we do.

Just recruit the best kids available.

We can’t afford to get specific for the next two drafts.
