I dont think the crows will bid on JUH, they will want whoever they choose to really be the 'first pick in the draft'.
As a North supporter I'd probably feel the same too.
It might look better for the club and fans, but there is always more pressure on pick 1 to perform, especially if he doesn’t perform as well as the kids that go after him.

Perkins hasn’t played all season. How he can miraculously all of a sudden jump into top 5 calculations is a joke.

What is a joke is the amount of posters around here who have watched a 5 minute highlights package on ~5 players and call the hypothetical selection of a player at a certain spot in the draft a joke.

Recruiting is performance + ceiling/potential + growth (height/weight) + combine testing + interview + positional flexibility + leadership + a whole host of other things I haven't mentioned.

Performance is one ingredient in the cake - yes it's a big part but it's not as simple as 'he hasn't played, what a joke that he's rising'

That's every year on BF mate, as I'm sure you well know.

You're probably more directly impacted this year as you've been gracious enough to offer your own thoughts and observations, for which I want to add my thanks and support. It's greatly appreciated by the masses who don't/cannot follow junior footy. :thumbsu:

NORTH MELBOURNE
DRAFT PICKS: 2, 11, 30, 39, 71, 81

The Roos had discussions weeks ago with clubs about the prospect of trading out pick No.2 for multiple high-end selections. On the last day of the trade period, they were close to a deal with Gold Coast about swapping pick No.2 for pick No.5 but things went in another direction late. If the Roos hold on to pick No.2 now as expected, there could be a wildcard move in store. If the draft murmurings are true, North Melbourne list boss Scott Clayton is a big fan of Archie Perkins. It may be a big call to take the powerful and explosive midfielder-forward at pick No.2, but the same may have been said of Marcus Bontempelli one or two months out from his draft class. Would Perkins still be there for their second selection at pick No.11? The Roos clearly need a long-term replacement for star centre half back Robbie Tarrant and departed spearhead Ben Brown. But after clearing out 14 players in the trade period it is fair to say the Roos need a bit of everything.

This has had legs for a couple weeks.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Could also go along the lines that it takes the pressure off their player too if the bid on JUH...that's what I'd like North to do if in their position

Without wanting to open the link, why is the Essendon midfield presented as the aspirational vision?
Because they have TWO training grounds the EXACT DIMENSIONS of Docklands and the G. Throw in the chance to learn from the amazing leadership of Dyson Heppell and what's not to aspire to?

When you put it like that, of course that's the ultimate vision for all draftees.

Surely we would have taken a trade with Gold Coast if we wanted Perkins? I guess we still could.
Still a possibility, but if it were to happen I suspect it would be on draft night. Suns might be keen on a particular draftee, and if said draftee gets past the Crows to our pick then they may be willing to part with a bit to move up. We could then take one of the top 5 rated non-NGA draftees, or alternatively Perkins.

Super spongy floor at the indoor training bit too. I can't think of a single red flag or reason I'd be unhappy with my young fella getting drafted there.

Adelaide will take Thilthorpe.

Theres no way they can risk letting him go elsewhere and potentially winning a rising star and having an impact straight away.

Adelaide taking Thilthorpe is them covering themselves. Not taking him is opening them up to huge risks.

I disagree.

Mcdonald is the best available player based on 2020 performance. Thilthorpe's number aren't in the same conversation from a 2020 perspective.

Bypassing the best 2020 player on exposed form that is a lock to go 2-3, for a bloke that could go anywhere from 2-10, purely because he is from SA is bigger risk IMO.
