Assistant coach. Was going to play but was injured so stayed around to assist. He coached the U17s as a 16yo?
I feel like this post belongs on the FB pages.

So who was it that went at pick 8 at last years draft. A gun midfielder if I recall.

I didn’t think there was any value left at pick 8 so we traded for Melbournes 2nd and next years 1st.
What I can draw from that is that there will be a number of BF posters unhappy with our selection and a number who will be ecstatic. So I have read a fair bit of this thread and I can see that there is a fair bit of consensus developing. The BF faithful has narrowed the choice for pick 2 down to:
Hollands
McDonald
Thilthorpe
Phillips
Grainger-Barras
Perkins
Have I missed anyone?
Who said recruiting was hard? Stern look.

The club didn't make the trade with Melbourne on the basis of valuations of the 2019 draft, who was available at 8 etc etc, but to give a new management team the best possible resources to work with in the 2020 draft. Rawlings couldn't get a release from WCE to participate in the 2019 draft, and so we effectively held fire for the following year (ie 2020), giving him time to build a new management team (eg Scott Clayton didn't start until Dec 19). The Melbourne trade had nothing to do with Serong (or anyone else), but was part of an overall strategy to give the new football department the best possible hand in their first draft together, which is now.All of us here are hindsight warriors.
Our list management TEAM which comprises of at least 5 people being paid a sh*t load of money to scrutinise the kids coming through the draft failed the club.
So in hindsight, which is all we have sometimes to pass judgement on choices made by those in charge.
Needy It’s OK to admit the club made a mistake by not identifying that Serong would have been a great pick up.

Bailey Laurie is a BFNAAK.
Matt Balmer thinks he might have interest from GWS at Pick 13 because Collingwood would grab him at their picks - assuming they don't trade their picks.
Should we take Bailey Laurie at Pick 11 if Perkins and Cox are off the board?
Classy mover for sure - perhaps a bit too like Bailey ScottKid sure looks like a player. Some of those kicks to the leading player were absolutely top shelf.
Very interesting that our strongest links from Twomney seem to be Hollands at 2, Perkins at 11 and Poulter at 30. That's basically 3x the same player. I wonder what mix we end up bringing in, or whether that is even a consideration for us with our first two picks.
This Thilthorpe laddie looks something special. Sure doesn't play like a 200 cm player with how he competes at ground level and his kicking both sides. Love his aggression and contested marking. Could set us up for the next 10 yearsI like that if Thilthorpe is still there. Wouldn't be happy if not.
Like all of us probably, I have a different take. We were pretty pleased with ourselves at the end of 2019 - promising young coach, equally promising young players and a blend of experienced players. We weren't that desperate to add another kid. The newly minted brains trust thought- we'll show 'em by backing Dees to have a poor season. If they factored in that the Dees would do anything different - then it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.The club didn't make the trade with Melbourne on the basis of valuations of the 2019 draft, who was available at 8 etc etc, but to give a new management team the best possible resources to work with in the 2020 draft. He was back in the pack. I think most had him in the 10-20 zone. Also, can anyone tell me where McDonald was rated in draft terms this time last year ?
I know it’s hard to say but if the vic kids played this year allowing for similar progression to their U17 years would he still be a 1-3 prospect or would he have drifted out to 5+ and how does that compare with Thilthorpe at the same times ?
Classy mover for sure - perhaps a bit too like Bailey Scott/Mahoney though.PLAYERCARDSTART8Bailey Scott

If we go Holland's at 2 we will need to have a crack at some legitimate height at 11.
Thilthorpe just has 'it'. Going to be a gem.
I know Lachie and Wells both suffered a bit from similar injuries, but his mobility seems fine. I’m more worried about Hollands’ injury. If you're confident his groins will hold up he almost looks the pick

The only way to make sure Dodoro doesn’t take your guy is to pick before him.
IMO no deals with * unless we get their first pick. At least.
