Both have some question marks on them.

Hollands - Knee, midfield transition.
Phillips - Outside hurt factor, kicking penetration, handball happy, is this his ceiling?

Their positives far outweigh their negatives, but it's not exactly like Phillips is bulletproof at #2 either.

Will be a big decision.
I said this the other week, Phillips is a meat and potatoes footballer, very solid and reliable but not genuinely elite. We need genuinely elite talent, who can kick the football too...

The Phillips Vs Hollands debate is an interesting one. With Melbourne's pick moving later in the order, we will only get one.

Phillips seems like the safer bet: Composed, Contested Bull, Run all day, Clearance machine, Elite handball first.
Hollands seems like the greater risk greater reward: X-factor, Goal kicker, Penetrating boot, Line breaking, Match winner.

Both would be great acquisitions, so it's Win/Win. Who would people prefer at 2?

I'm going Hollands.
There is some talk among Crows supporters that they’re likely to take Hollands so the decision may be made for us.

Lol you see what you like and orchestrate a way to go and get them.. they're either what we want/need then go and get them or they're not and you don't. No guts no glory! Been like that for 20 years.

Nope.

We have no idea how good that pick might be, for all we know we have another shit injury season and finish last and give up a #1 pick for pick 6 or 7 this year.

We are going into a rebuild, not coming out of one like Melbourne.

There's 3-4 players next year that would go at #1 this year. I'd actually potentially look at trading the Melbourne pick if we had to into 2021 if we don't like how the order is falling.

Horne is an absolute future superstar, I'd just about melt the membership if we future traded a potential future #1 pick like him (and he might not even go at #1)

Who is less "bulletproof" at pick 2?

I have no doubts that he's at least a solid AFL player.

How is this kid, or any other kid for the 2021 draft any higher rated than what is going up this year? Where are the metrics?

Waussie your man?

Heath Chapman has enjoyed a memorable couple of days – on and off the field.

The hot West Perth draft prospect starred in his side’s massive colts win over Perth at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, one day after a Zoom meeting with his beloved Western Bulldogs.

Chapman was best-afield as the ladder-leading Falcons remained undefeated with a 78-point thrashing of the Demons, with 28 disposals at 86 per cent efficiency to go with seven marks.

Bulldogs recruiters aren’t the only ones showing interest in Chapman, rated as one of WA’s top draft fancies alongside Perth key forward Logan McDonald and Swan Districts intercept-marking machine Denver Grainger-Barras.

He has spoken with nearly half of the AFL clubs, including Fremantle and West Coast a few weeks back.
Mineral Resources Park, geeze some of these sponsored stadium names are crap

He's currently playing senior SANFL football as a 17 year old midfielder. He has size, elite speed and good skills. He's ticks most boxes even at this age. The only other mid in this group like that as an all-round package is probably Campbell, but he has a few question marks on his ability to accumulate, has been played at half forward at times etc.

You can definitely judge class to class based on the strength of the 16 year old carnivals.

All the noise out of 2021 is that the top end is right up there with 2018. Horne is one of the leading contenders for #1 pick at this stage.

It's a shame there was no nationals this year, as he would of been one of the stars as an underage mid.

How quick is his first step!!!....Peter Matera, hunched over explosive. Phwoar!!

If (and I’m still mostly against it) the club feels that Browny isn’t part of our future, I reckon Sydney might be more than interested given they wanted Daniher last year. Could we extract their first (pick 3-4) in exchange for Browny and our 2nd + some additional points?

He's got a Dangerfield/Ruccuito/Buckley style ceiling imo. You can see how naturally explosive he is, also a good frame, he's going to be a big, extremely athletic midfielder.

You were equally eager about Darcy Fogarty underage. That's not a criticism but there's a lot to play out not trading out of the 2021 first round based on one guy's bottom year form.

I'm not knocking him, he's just about my favorite player in the draft.

All I'm saying is, due to a few circumstances, the top mids in this draft have a few question marks on them. (Still high ceilings).

With pick #2, generally you expect to have a slam dunk prospect that you are confident will be a star (Rankine/Lukosious, Taranto/McCluggage, Petracca, Josh Kelly even LDU to an extent who was predicted at that pick) they all didn't have too many question marks on them at the time. All of them are fairly complete midfielders. Phillips belongs in their conversation, but probably more inside than all of them atm.

He's only one player, he might even not be the #1 pick, like I said the general consensus is that 2021 is a very strong top 15 or so.

2020 probably more inline with 2017 at the moment.

So would you trade out a pick that might be Max/Ben King or Rankine for Hunter Clark or Coffield from the previous year?

You absolutely have to consider the relative strengths of each draft.

I think you will find there will be plenty of sides trying to bank picks for next year because of it's strength.

I'm happy to take 2 x top picks into the draft this year. No way should we be going all in with 3 to the detriment of our 2021 position though.

If we genuinely want a third top pick in this draft, we should be trading some senior players for it, not our 2021 position.

Looks like he had the measure of the Norwood backline of A-graders Mitch Wilkins and Bread McKenzie....

Mmm just chipping in on Sydney's side here.

Can see the appeal but highly unlikely that that trade would occur. Brown has been a good player and is great on the lead but feel that we would be better served with Logan McDonald at that pick (depending on bid etc etc)

Elijah Hollands highlights I've now released:

This kid is an absolute gun. Looks like he can do pretty much everything. How's the one-handed half volley on the run?

Is the only reason we wouldn't jump on him with the second pick the knee injury? Are there other concerns?

Hollands vid I reckon is the best highlights vid I've seen. What a jet. If that knee is good he could be ridiculous. His game is based around agility though, so that's the Q mark isn't it. I'd love to see him working alongside LDU and Jy....gezuz!

That was exactly my thoughts. Jy, LDU, and this kid surrounded by Scott, Walker, Taylor, TT. Goodbye blue collar tag!
