Not sure if anyone follows Nightmare closely but my vote for pick 2 is Logan McDonald. He and Larkey can be our forward line for the next `10 years.

"JUH and Logan McDonald are the two best key forwards coming through the junior rankings since Buddy. So in other words the best over the past 15/16 years"

Rating this kid over the King Twins is a big statement.

The Dees pick to the next best mid.

Elijah Hollands highlights I've now released:

Hollands vid I reckon is the best highlights vid I've seen. What a jet. If that knee is good he could be ridiculous. His game is based around agility though, so that's the Q mark isn't it. I'd love to see him working alongside LDU and Jy....gezuz!
Agreed.
Hollands is class, if he didnt do his knee he would be a no brainer.
I still think we take him at 2, dont want another selwood overlooked type situation only for him to get taken a few picks later and us regret it

but Phillips will be good too so I guess we can't go too wrong either way, in general i think Hollands is the best fit for our side though

That was exactly my thoughts. Jy, LDU, and this kid surrounded by Scott, Walker, Taylor, TT. Goodbye blue collar tag!
Yup!.....all with a bit a swagger too. Would luv it.
I know Phillips is thre safer bet, but this kids hands are easily as good as Phillips, his hand-passing is off the charts good.

I haven't seen the Phillips highlights but Holland looks like a massive talent. Foot skills look great, thumping kick, strong overhead, and knows where the goals are.

Waussie your man?

Heath Chapman has enjoyed a memorable couple of days – on and off the field.

The hot West Perth draft prospect starred in his side’s massive colts win over Perth at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, one day after a Zoom meeting with his beloved Western Bulldogs.

Chapman was best-afield as the ladder-leading Falcons remained undefeated with a 78-point thrashing of the Demons, with 28 disposals at 86 per cent efficiency to go with seven marks.

Bulldogs recruiters aren’t the only ones showing interest in Chapman, rated as one of WA’s top draft fancies alongside Perth key forward Logan McDonald and Swan Districts intercept-marking machine Denver Grainger-Barras.

He has spoken with nearly half of the AFL clubs, including Fremantle and West Coast a few weeks back.

How could the bulldogs possibly get Chapman? Are they assuming no one will bid on juh before their pick 7 or whatever? And then they take Chapman at 7 and match juh later.... assuming that they aren't looking for alternatives to juh?

He's only one player, he might even not be the #1 pick, like I said the general consensus is that 2021 is a very strong top 15 or so.

2020 probably more inline with 2017 at the moment.

So would you trade out a pick that might be Max/Ben King or Rankine for Hunter Clark or Coffield from the previous year?

You absolutely have to consider the relative strengths of each draft.

I think you will find there will be plenty of sides trying to bank picks for next year because of it's strength.

I'm happy to take 2 x top picks into the draft this year. No way should we be going all in with 3 though to the detriment of our 2021 position though.

If we genuinely want a third top pick in this draft, we should be trading some senior players.

Devil's Advocate against that - there will be a perception that we will be a bottom side next year.

Whether this is accurate isn't the main concern but I wonder if we can exploit this.

Could we extract a bit of overs on our 2021 pick to ensure more strikes at this year's draft? It'd more or less be a reverse Melbourne trade.

North 2021 R1 for one of:

Hawks 3+21
Swans 4+23
GC 6+25
Carlton 7+26

This assumes we back our intel sufficiently to punt on multiple 2020 first round picks. It also assumes at least 4 list changes. Ideally 5 with the 2nd rounder staying under 30.

Any of those combinations see us with 5 picks inside 30. Albeit in a very murky draft.

If the Crows bid on JUH it nearly wipes the Dogs out of the rest of the draft.

I'm not knocking him, he's just about my favorite player in the draft.

All I'm saying is, due to a few circumstances, the top mids in this draft have a few question marks on them. (Still high ceilings).

With pick #2, generally you expect to have a slam dunk prospect that you are confident will be a star (Rankine/Lukosious, Taranto/McCluggage, Petracca, Josh Kelly even LDU to an extent who was predicted at that pick) they all didn't have too many question marks on them at the time. All of them are fairly complete midfielders. Phillips belongs in their conversation, but probably more inside than all of them atm.

Okay, point taken.

Love this idea

If (and I’m still mostly against it) the club feels that Browny isn’t part of our future, I reckon Sydney might be more than interested given they wanted Daniher last year. Could we extract their first (pick 3-4) in exchange for Browny and our 2nd + some additional points?

I can't see Browny enjoying the claustrophobic SCG, and I reckon the swines know that too.

He's kicked 2 goals in 2 outings there.

What is the FS & interstate academy rort scenario for next season?

What is the FS & interstate academy rort scenario for next season?

Not too many among the very top.

Nick Daicos is a reported top 10 F/S prospect, however, he's yet to play NAB League and only school football at this stage.

Tyler Sonsie is another top prospect for 2021. He played in the NAB League last year as a 16 year old and had 22 touches when up against Hayden Young as an 18 year old, who obviously eventually went at pick 7.

See below from 2019, note he was 12 months younger than the next youngest player in the whole comp in these videos:

Surely if any of the bottom four sides do... it wipes them out so strange that they are interviewing? Unless eyes on a top pick to use before a bid even though as you say if ade bid they are hine

There’s a trade period before the draft. Wouldn’t surprise to see the dogs offer up some tempters to get into the first round again anticipating Jam wipes out their first+.

We have Archer and Scott on the horizon. My impression is that Archer might a more outside chance but if Scott starts tracking to the standard of his brother in 2021 (and agrees to join North if we're interested) we might want to shift out of the 1st round anyway.

You'd have to approach the trade thinking like that.

We'd be giving up the #1 2021 selection for the advantage of bringing in a trio of top talent right now, plus 2x 2nd rounders.

Having a hand of say #2 #4 #12 #21 #27 as mentioned is a nice tool to immediately integrate some kids into Shaw's system for 2021. You'd even look at offloading one or both of those 2nd rounders for 2021 picks depending on number of list changes.

With 2 & 4 we can pretty much be assured of drafting a preferred mid-mid or mid-key combination we fancy. Phillips or Holland and McDonald becomes a feasible option.

Then still have a crack at a bonus talent at pick 12.
