As mentioned earlier in this thread next year's draft is looking extremely good. If we play the kids and go full rebuild for the next couple of years it might be the move that brings long-term success.

We've got a real opportunity to set ourselves up for a shot at a premiership if we draft smartly and handle the list well over the next 2 years. By handle the list well I mean get rid of the deadwood and stop recruiting other club's rejects.

Can't help but feel we'll do something stupid and screw this all up like trading for Josh Kelly.

I'm going to maintain the faith that Rawlings and Co will be smart enough to recognise where the team sits and act accordingly. He'll know that trading a single gun in isn't taking us from 17th to premiers. Nor is bringing in a bunch of scrubbers.

So all the angst about the draft this year, SA, WA and Tas kids are playing. Vic Country kids are playing soon enough. We just need to get the Metro kids some footy. My nephew is part of one of the squads and they are all training waiting for the go ahead.

I'm not sure you can be worrying too much about needs when you have pick 2. You need to take the best available.

We need mids but we have holes all over the ground. In other words we're miles off it. He looks like a 600 goal CHF. If he's the best, we take him.

This is why there should be a trade period after the draft. So you can balance the list better and trade anything you’ve got a surplus of.

Good idea from a purely management perspective, but it isn't a possibility whilst you have a functioning AFLPA.

Players would never allow it.

Can see Freo or Geelong licking their lips at this bloke. BLWS will probably throw their first at the Swans for Papley so that discounts them.

(IF) we traded Brown then we definitely get him but we probably would be forced to use our first on him before Freo and Cats.
Could work if we picked up Crouch and J Kelly as FA's..
