interesting discussions, if Logan McDonald was available to us at 2, who would we go between Hollands and McDonald? Knightmare rates McDonald as having the potential to be the next Nick Riewoldt, that would be pretty special talent

I'll throw another out there for an interesting discussion.... if you trade brown and get another first rder I would be looking to grade Logan... and Hollands!

Hollands appears to be an outstanding prospect, with many of the attributes we need- however that injury does concern me. I'm not sure we would take the risk at pick 2, but if we do I wouldn't be unhappy.
I feel we should pair McDonald at pick 2 with another WA boy and Perth Demons teammate in Nathan O'Driscoll who has developed nicely this season. Now a genuine 190cm midfielder, he has a good set of wheels on him and his kicking woes have been greatly exaggerated on this board.
The footage of Archie Perkins was pleasing too, however not convinced he's a top 10 or 12 pick??

In reality that might be where the Melbourne pick lands anyway.

I think if we go 2 x midfielders, you can probably afford to take a Trew, Henry safer type with Hollands.

If DGB or Cox lasted to the Melbourne pick, that would be absolutely ideal.

This rebuild isn't a single draft event. We have some decent young midfielders already is Simpkin, LDU, Scott etc. Don't worry too much about getting types exactly spot on, we just really need to start amassing good ball users and good young players.

Someone like Hollands might enable us to develop Thomas as a full time mid next year, or visa versa enable us to look at moving Hollands in there ASAP. The same applies to Curtis Taylor and moving him up to a wing.

I'm up in the air with McDonald at #2.

There's some absolutely A+ midfield prospects next year.

I think Max King has done a lot to alleviate concerns of ACL in U18s...

St. Kilda took the risk at Pick 6 and look to have cemented the best young key in the competition

Pick #4 actually.

King, like Hollands was probably the #1 pick when he did his ACL.

Pick #4 isn't pick #2, especially with someone like Isaac Rankine in the pool.

I'm not sure St Kilda take King at #2. But this pool isn't as strong as that one.

We need Melbourne to fall off a ****ing cliff to have any hope of a Phillips/Hollands combo.

That or trade up from their pick to earlier first somehow.

I wonder if someone will bid on Campbell early. Anyone know if he would be worthy of pick 2/3?

Hollands makes this an easy decision... we bid on JUH, flirt with putting in a bid to screw Syd.. maybe do it. Then just take Hollands at 3 I reckon.
He has the most talent, the most upside.... looks like a transcendent footballer. Jy, LDU, and Hollands... holy shit in 3-4 years time imagine that midfield. Size, speed, class, tricks.

Be at 4 as assuming someone or us will bid on camp too... unless ade shock us all and don't grab thril

I think we simply have to target mids at this years draft, our spine is incredibly solid and set for the foreseeable future, plus we have Comben coming through who from all reports looks good. Depth of top end midfield class has been our biggest deficiency for a decade at least. If we could somehow wrangle Hollands and Phillips...

Reckon the quality talls will be gone by the Melbourne pick anyway.

Someone will bid on Ugle-Hagen before the Dogs pick, nothing surer. Adelaide will take Thilthorpe. Freo will take one of DGB or McDonald, with one of Hawks, GC, Carl, Ess taking the other.

1: Thilthorpe - Adel
2: NM - Hollands
3: Haw - Phillips
4: Syd - Campbell
5: Fremantle - McDonald
6: Gold Coast - O'Driscoll
7: Carlton - DGB
8: Ess - Trew
9: Dogs - JUH
10: Adel - Bruhn
11: Geel - Henry/Ford/McRae/Perkins/Reid/Callow
12: NM - Henry/Ford/McRae/Perkins/Reid/Callow

We would 100% take Cox in that situation and it would be a great pick.

He's played well on JUH.

Also pick #9 for JUH? No.

The Phillips Vs Hollands debate is an interesting one. With Melbourne's pick moving later in the order, we will only get one.

Phillips seems like the safer bet: Composed, Contested Bull, Run all day, Clearance machine, Elite handball first.
Hollands seems like the greater risk greater reward: X-factor, Goal kicker, Penetrating boot, Line breaking, Match winner.

Both would be great acquisitions, so it's Win/Win. Who would people prefer at 2?

I'm going Hollands.

Hmmmm, could we get GC's pick 6?

Crows take Tilthorpe, we bid on Campbell at 2 to wipe the Swines out of contention at 4, then take Hollands at 2, Swines take Campbell at 4, and that leaves Hawthorn at 3, and I don't reckon they would take another inside mid. Hawthorn could end up taking either a defender (DGB) or a forward (Logan). Freo at 5 would then move down a spot due to their deficit, leaving us to step in and take Phillips, with Freo then choosing DGB/Logan, who they might want anyway.

We can then cross our fingers that Cox lands at ~12.

As long as we're happy to take Campbell at 2 if they don't match. They could decide to let him go and pick up one of McDonald, Hollands and Phillips at 4. The remaining one of that three would then be available at 5, if we had it.

I think the only scenario in which we land another top 12 pick is trading Ben Brown.

Waussie your man?

Heath Chapman has enjoyed a memorable couple of days – on and off the field.

The hot West Perth draft prospect starred in his side’s massive colts win over Perth at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, one day after a Zoom meeting with his beloved Western Bulldogs.

Chapman was best-afield as the ladder-leading Falcons remained undefeated with a 78-point thrashing of the Demons, with 28 disposals at 86 per cent efficiency to go with seven marks.

Bulldogs recruiters aren’t the only ones showing interest in Chapman, rated as one of WA’s top draft fancies alongside Perth key forward Logan McDonald and Swan Districts intercept-marking machine Denver Grainger-Barras.

He has spoken with nearly half of the AFL clubs, including Fremantle and West Coast a few weeks back.

Both have some question marks on them.

Hollands - Knee, midfield transition.
Phillips - Outside hurt factor, kicking penetration, handball happy, is this his ceiling?

Their positives far outweigh their negatives, but it's not exactly like Phillips is bulletproof at #2 either.

Will be a big decision.
