Sounds like Brad McKenzie...

If you crossed him with Anthony Stevens.

As reported by AFL.com.au on Monday, Gold Coast is considering taking as little as just one live selection into this year's draft as the Suns aim to trade up from pick No.5. - Riley Beveridge

Should we consider the following trade?

NM: 5, 24, 33
GC: 2

If we rate Phillips as equal to the likes of McDonald, Hollands, Thilthorpe and DBG then we dont lose a lot by dropping down the order.

If we get forced down by the Adelaide compo pick, then yes, otherwise no.

Do it on one condition: ask GC to bid on campbell haha

No way we give up 2 that easy even if we rate the whole lot equal. Make them REALLY earn it or simple keep 2. We can do better that 24 and 33 i reckon. Lets make Brady and co earn their money. There is a few posters on here that could get a better deal than that.

drop down 3 positions to net 2 2nd rounders. Who wouldn't do that when we could potentially use them to move back down the order again.

You can all make fun of Rendell, but he is arguably the greatest recruitment manager of all time. He had four first rounds picks with Adelaide and the only one who didn't make an All Australian team was Phil Davis.

He also snagged Rory Laird, Rory Sloane, Jarryd Lyons and Jack Gunston with later picks as well as plenty of other handy types. All of that in only five years too.
I actually don’t mind him. Think he is far more succinct than most......barring the zoo-har call

Thats a terrible trade considering what they traded 11 away for last year.

If they want #2, they can trade #5 and their 2021 first round pick.

It's irrelevant who we rate there, we have the leverage and GC have form in overpaying in this scenario to move up.

I don't consider that enough.

#2 for #5 & #11 would have been perfect if they still had it.

Or else its #5, #24, #33 and Fiorini/Powell.

I'm perfectly comfortable taking Hollands or McDonald in this draft. The fact that a few teams want to trade up should tell you plenty.

Essendon with 6 & 7 is probably a better option.

Yeah if I was giving up 2 for 5 I would want another first coming back with it, either this year or next year.

He reminds me of Xavier Duursma

So he's also on pretty good terms with himself?

This kid is showing traits that guys like Sidebottom and the Bont did with timing their run to the draft with some great games leading up. He sounds like a beauty, we need another top 12 pick..

Prolific ball-winner Tom Powell tore the SANFL under-18 competition to shreds, winning the McCallum Tompkins Medal as league best-and-fairest and averaging a lazy 33.5 disposals, 14.6 contested possessions, eight clearances and 154 SuperCoach points from 15 games for Sturt.

He also played a pivotal role in their finals series, including 25 touches and a goal in the Grand Final, boosting his draft stocks in the process – the only negative being for SuperCoaches, who may have to snap him up at a more expensive price.

So we rate 35 players and then feel its fall away from there. That of course doesn't mean you won't find hidden gems later.
Will though be interesting to see how many picks we can cram in before 35

Is that 35 open prospects or 35 including those tied to academies etc?

Hopefully some of those 35 find there way to pick 50 odd. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as it were.

A quick rundown of what I think would be a good haul for us. I am aware all the picks will move down due to bids but just to make it a bit easier to follow I'll put what they sit at now
Pick 2: Elijah Hollands
Pick 9: Nik Cox
Pick 23(Brown pick): Eddie Ford
Pick 25: Jackson Callow
Pick 34 (Higgins pick): Isiah Winder
Pick 57: Sam Collins

Open to discuss but I feel all these players would be available around those spots

My only query with that group is their positions.

Not a single one of them is a full time midfielder yet at underage level.

We certainly might be drafting them on potential and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to Ford at that pick, but jesz, we are going to have ALOT of half forward flankers that are "potential midfielders" on the list:

Tarryn Thomas
Curtis Taylor
Cam Zurhaar
Taylor Garner
Will Walker
Jack Mahoney

You could even lump Bailey Scott in that group at the moment.

Add Elijah Hollands, Eddie Ford and Isiah Winder.

Some players need to step into a midfield roll pretty quickly to make space.

Well I like it. But I’m an absolute sucker for x-factor ( not the show though)

I think Hollands will become a full time mid, he's got the frame and drive. Cox I see as a fullback and will take a couple of years to develop, could replace Taz when he retires. Ford was the tricky one and I based it purely on potential. He has alot of tricks and could be a solid half forward or an X Factor mid rotation. Callow I think could hold down a Key forward position with his marking and physicality. Winder ticks the box for a small forward with goal nous and Collins was quite highly regarded as a rebounding defender but could easily slide. I don't believe Curtis Taylor will run through the middle and I don't think Zurhaar should be put through there either. Thomas I think will play higher this year and possibly play more on the wing

Rendell perfect for Trade Radio isn’t he. Real rent-a-quote type.

Remember when he was on Open Mike telling everyone Phillips will be as good as Rowell? Now we’ve got the best kick ever coming through. Shaping up as a super draft going by Matt’s opinions.
What part do you take offense with? Heaps of people have spoken about Campbells kicking ability being elite. Phillips was also playing great footy with Rowell as an underager and could be as good as Rowell.

Seems to be the constant bashing of anyone in the media who has an opinion gets bandied about too much around here. I have had no issues with most of what he has said regardless of whether he can say peoples names correctly(which he apologised the next day for i might add).

Clearly he’s a passionate man and is pretty good at what he does. I just feel he might be prone to a bit of hyperbole which I’m sure is not a coincidence with Hutchy having him in high rotation at the moment.
