I can now see us taking Thilly if McDonald goes one. His athleticism and dual role is going to be too good to pass up.

Tomorrow's Q & A is going to be very interesting.

You might be right.

The best comparison to Thilthorpe at AFL level is Rowan Marshall crossed with someone like Charlie Dixon.

I could legitimately see him becoming the #1 ruckman in the AFL, or an AA forward, depending on where he was developed.

He's not a dominant tap ruckman, but he's better then Grundy was at the same age around the ground.

He's a fairly insane prospect and I probably like him more than Jackson last year as a similar type. He's just got dominating forward written all over him and he's the opposite of raw imo.

I'd actually like to know if Clayton/Rawlings/Luff rate him ahead of McDonald. Thilthorpe was the #1 pick with Hollands this time last year.

David king just said we could trade pick 2 for 8 & 17. That would be crazy - hopefully Rawlings would do something like this.

Err no.

If McDonald was on the market I'd be asking for every one of GWS 4 x top 20 picks for it and then their 2021 first rounder.

Agree with the above sentiment that right now it seems likely we’d take a tall at 2.

But I can’t help but think we’d regret passing on Hollands.

He just seems like the absolute prototype modern matchwinner.

He absolutely is.

Hollands is this draft pools Brownlow medalist imo.

He's a fit season and some midfield minutes away from being dubbed the next Petracca/Martin.

It's definitely shaping that way.

I can't see us getting back in for 3,4,5 without trading our 2021 1st round pick either.

We just don't have enough juice to pair up with pick 11.

Hawthorn need the pick, Sydney will be breaking their necks to get in under the Campbell bid, and I doubt we can do 11, 30 & 39 to grab GC's number 5 pick.

Perhaps 11, 30 for 37 & 2021 2nd round pick might grab pick 5 off them?

Would like one more pick in the first 40. we're well placed with the 4 picks we have however you look at what is our next pick at 71, in a draft like this we aint getting much out of that pick

The late picks crunch down, especially with the amount of NGA and unlimited picks and the low amount of players some clubs will take.

Likely that pick comes into about pick 60 or the 50's imo by the time we use it.

I think the moves made today increase the chance that we live trade out of pick 2 if McDonald is taken at 1.

Say, for example, the rumours are true about GC being into Hollands and willing to give up a bit to get him. We give them pick 2, get 5 where we draft whoever is there of Thilthorpe, DGB, and Phillips, and then take an extra first rounder in a stronger draft next year. It gives us a lot of flexibility to either target the best player at our biggest need (McDonald and KPF) or maximise our draft hand over a couple of years if he's gone.

Not the worst move.

Live trading is certainly going to work to our advantage this year.

As stupid and ridiculous as this sounds, I wonder how Rawlings views Josh Kelly in 2021 Free Agency?

If we took 2 x KPP's ~ McDonald/Thilthorpe & Reid/Cox

2021 aim is to add a Horne/Sonsie at the pointy end then a 26 year old Josh Kelly into the midfield group.

There's our winger if Froggy decides to head back to S.A.

Who’s your preference?

Hollands.

However even I can admit it's a huge risk now overloading our list with guys that might be permanent forwards.

There's no guarantee Thomas amounts to anything more than a forward.

There's no guarantee Hollands amount to anything more than a forward.

There's no guarantee Stephenson amount to anything more than a forward.

If those three events occur, our list balance is seriously impacted down the track, when you add Taylor, Zurhaar, Garner to that list.

From a list balance perspective McDonald I think is probably the best option, even if he's not the best player. As giantroo also said, Thilthorp as a Goldy/Brown double replacement might also be too good to refuse.

As mentioned a few posts ago, once the rumors start coming out, you can pretty much lock the top 5 a few days before the draft. If it's evident someone like Thilthorpe is going to last until #5, it might be wise trading with GC and banking a 2021 1st rounder.

Pick 2 you just have to take best available I reckon. Garner is unlikely to be a factor long term, Taylor could push up the ground. Hollands’ potential looks obscene.

How can this be right Collingwood only have 2 first round picks 14 and 16

The assumption here is that they would get their 2 picks in before McInnes was bid on, on the very next pick. Which creates the third.

Interesting but surely the points they have left over won't be enough for that next pick? Or are they allowed to draw into next year?

Really keen on Hollands based on the read-ups, Phillyroo’s analysis and I think it is more likely that we can get a decent kpp later in the draft, rather than a gun elite mid.
