So of course I have been asking around on who we might draft. And as expected i've got donuts apart from we will draft the best player available with every selection.
So we won't draft a KPF unless we think he's the best, if it's a mid we'll call his name.

My hunch is it will be Hollands with our first if he's still there.

Bailey Laurie is a BFNAAK.

Matt Balmer thinks he might have interest from GWS at Pick 13 because Collingwood would grab him at their picks - assuming they don't trade their picks.

Should we take Bailey Laurie at Pick 11 if Perkins and Cox are off the board?

I mentioned a few weeks ago his evasive skills and ability to turn on a dime reminds me of Matt Larkin. Definite consideration.

The club didn't make the trade with Melbourne on the basis of valuations of the 2019 draft, who was available at 8 etc etc, but to give a new management team the best possible resources to work with in the 2020 draft. Rawlings couldn't get a release from WCE to participate in the 2019 draft, and so we effectively held fire for the following year (ie 2020), giving him time to build a new management team (eg Scott Clayton didn't start until Dec 19). The Melbourne trade had nothing to do with Serong (or anyone else), but was part of an overall strategy to give the new football department the best possible hand in their first draft together, which is now.

Is that an official quote from the club?

This time last year he was touted to go 1. So a slider. I like it.

I tell ya what, North and Adelaide are tighter than my shphincter in the lead up to the 99 GF.

I know Lachie and Wells both suffered a bit from similar injuries, but his mobility seems fine. I’m more worried about Hollands’ injury.

There’s nothing that this footy club loves more than nursing a talented young kid back to full health. Almost like we try to get full bang for our medical staff buck.

Personally I think Adelaide would be crazy to call any other name than Hollands. And I'm ok with that. But I then hope we slap 2 & possibly 11 on the table and somehow walk away with Perkins and Phillips. I'd hate it if we called one of those KP's that would be the easy way out.
I'm also not as concerned as others about our KP stocks.

McKay, Comben, Larkey & Xerri. You need to play them to find out whether they're the real deal. You don't keep drafting back ups in case they don't make it. my opinion is the club is so much smarter now and will continue down the current path which is to inject pace and skill.

Be interesting to see if I'm correct. We still need to replace Atley, Dumont, Tyson, *Will Walker, Bonar and Hall and sooner than later.

* yeah I know some rate him, which is par for course round these parts. But Will will be in the shitmen team of the century soon enough.
Fancy not drafting kelly cause of the go home factor, the Cats did well out of that in the end. Invest 5 bucks and make 20 isn't a bad strategy I'd have thought. Of course we'll never do that unprofessional shit again.

Bonar started to do well towards the end of the year. He is turning 22, much upside to him. He might eventually replace atley as they have similar size and attribute. The clock is counting down for atley, hall, dumont and tyson. Too much solid reliable vibe meaning middle of nowhere player.

With key forward, pick 2 for a key forward is a big no no. People often bring on Franklin and Roughead, perhaps they need to realize that hawthorn had gotten hodge and mitchell, sewell, lewis and these made franklin superstar. SOme might then say but but but, Jack Darling. Well i say kelly, sheed, gaff, masten etc.

Perkins and Phillips would be a nice plan B. Maybe even plan A.

In the miraculous event of us landing these two, our midfield will be complete for the next decade.

I realise next year's draft is stacked with incredible midfield talent, but counterintuitively, won't most teams be hunting for those players leaving value there for those teams looking to nab the few KKP talent available?

We need to be careful not to be too confident too early.

Paddy Dow went number 2.

Just saying.......

Not to mention Jack Watts, Josh Fraser, number 1. Nothing is certain. IMO our odds are better picking mids with our first two picks. We are great at picking talls with our later picks. So Holland, Perkins , Phillips it has to be.. please

Brilliant, insightful post.

Speedy hey? Well that might rule Hollands out because apparently he's not super quick but rather powerful. Perkins at pick 2 if speed is what you want?

I'd like the club to draft the best two midfielders available with our first two picks.

Who they are I'll leave to our recruiting team.

How your club stands ahead of the 2020 AFL national draft

NORTH MELBOURNE
PICKS: 2, 11, 30, 39, 71, 81.

KEY DEFENDERS: Robbie Tarrant, Josh Walker, Aidan Corr, Matt McGuinness.

SMALL/MEDIUM DEFENDERS: Luke McDonald, Shaun Atley, Lachie Young, Kyron Hayden.

MIDFIELDERS: Ben Cunnington, Jy Simpkin, Jed Anderson, Jack Ziebell, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Jared Polec, Trent Dumont, Aaron Hall, Dom Tyson, Flynn Perez, Aiden Bonar.

KEY FORWARDS: Nick Larkey, Ben McKay, Charlie Comben.

SMALL/MEDIUM FORWARDS: Cameron Zurhaar, Jaidyn Stephenson, Tarryn Thomas, Kayne Turner, Curtis Taylor, Atu Bosenavulagi, Jack Mahony, Taylor Garner, Bailey Scott, Will Walker.

RUCKS: Todd Goldstein, Tristan Xerri, Tom Campbell.

After one of the AFL's biggest player culls, North Melbourne enter the draft having appointed a new coach and hoping for a brighter future following an awful 2020 campaign. With 14 players having moved on from Arden Street, the Roos had a glut of list spots to fill and therefore listened to offers about splitting their pick No.2 for a suite of selections later in the draft. But the Kangaroos ultimately declined those advances and will head to draft night with the prized pick in hand. Because of the uncertainty around what Adelaide will do with pick No.1, it is harder than usual to predict yet what North will do with selection No.2, which could become three if the Crows bid on Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

If the Crows don't bid on the Bulldogs academy player, it's unclear if North would then do so themselves, with industry sources suggesting they might not. In any case, North look likely to take whichever of Elijah Hollands, Riley Thilthorpe or Logan McDonald, one of whom will already be snapped up by the Crows. Hollands, coming off an ACL injury, is a potential midfield star however with Ben Brown traded, Robbie Tarrant at the tail end of his career and Todd Goldstein also in the veteran category then talls Thilthorpe or McDonald are arguably better options. Pick 11 is set to push back to pick 13 or later by the time bids come in for Ugle-Hagan and Braeden Campbell. Archie Perkins looks a strong show at this selection if he's not already taken by Hawthorn, Essendon or Greater Western Sydney, while fellow midfielders Tom Powell, Tanner Bruhn and Finlay Macrae should also be around the mark at this pick. The Kangaroos have indicated they will keep a couple of list spots open to pick up players next year via the supplemental selection period and the mid-season rookie draft.

Ben McKay a KP Forward.........

Hmmm.
