Deleted my post thinking we had a game day thread up? Guess not. :p

This is the highest level of footy I’ve seen so far this season.

Movement of the footy and winning the territory battle is the key in AFLW, even more so in poor conditions. The better a team can move the ball and lock it in, the more scoring opportunities they get. Messy contests tend to happen more often than in the men’s game so a lot of the strategy really needs to be to play as much of the game inside your forward fifty at the cost of sometimes giving the opposition extra numbers at the other end. But there are relatively few fast break goals so it is a cost worth paying. Just stay inside fifty as long as possible and grab the chances when they come.

I think we are playing to that strategy well so far.

The biggest difference between the two:

We get down and dirty and fight tooth and nail to win the footy. Adelaide are constantly waving their arms trying to win a free.

I know which team I'd rather follow into battle - regardless of the scoreline.

The skills have definitely improved considerably this year. I was worried about the dilution of talent with the expansion but it's good to see that the quality of play is on the up.
