He had some great individual moments, but he didnt have a great year

Missed games with the hammy early in the piece then had a poor run of form that resulted in him being dropped. I thought his back end of the season was great though, Us against the rest might be suffering some recency bias there.

Finals award really depends on how it was delivered. I have no problem with Ollie being commended for a great finals series, and he honestly deserves recognition for how he's gone about it this year - after the drama and the loss of the co-captaincy he's approached everything with maturity and looks like he is becoming the leader we've always wanted him to be.

The only issue is the mission accomplished type sh*t that certain people have been speaking (to be fair a lot of this comes from outside Port people). We blew an opportunity this year and should be angry and wanting to make amends, not patting ourselves on the back for getting close.
Did they reveal how that was determined? AFL finals should be weighted for voting. Week 1 - votes given, Week 2 - votes given x 2, Prelims - votes given x 4, GF - votes given x 8. The more important the final, the more it should count.

17th Duursma - 61 (15)
18th Motlop - 54 (14)
19th Rozee - 52 (16)
20th Marshall - 50 (14)
21st Burton - 46 (8)
22nd Ladhams - 42 (10)

Might not be 100% accurate, but you get the general idea of the coach's rating of each players season.

So Burton>Lienert>Mayes>Bonner.

With Jones and Bergman to come in.

I counted Marshall had 43 at the end of Rd 8 the St Kilda game, the game he busted his hand in.

8+9+7+4+0+4+8+3 = 43. He returned Rd 14, Rd 15 was a bye, he got 0+bye+2+4+0+1+0 = 7.

At the end of Rd 10, the top 10 was as per the graphic below. Rd 9 and 10 votes
Mckenzie 0+10 = 10 => 56 after rd 8 and didn't play Rd 9
Dixon..... 1+9 = 10 => 54 after rd 8
Boak..... 10+0 = 10 => 53 after rd 8
Houston 10+8 = 18 => 36 after rd 8
Amon.... 13+6 =19 => 35 after rd 8
Hartlett.. 4+8 = 12 => 41 after rd 8
Clurey.. 4+10 = 14 => 33 after rd 8

So Marshall was 7th after Rd 8. Indicates his busted thumb was a lot bigger issue than we probably realized. Yes he needs to do more, but some of the commentary on here was a bit over the top and his first 7 full games and even in the 8th one playing with his broken thumb strapped up shows how well the coaches thought he was going.
