English would leave a team "grossly underachieving and getting belted" to go to a team with 2 fewer wins and less percentage?
Didn't realise we won '06, that's awesome! Must have been a pretty difficult feat to beat a team who is given a larger salary cap than everyone else

Yeah, fair enough - I was a decade too soon. The pain of that day and the constant whistles from the biased Vic umps makes it all a bit hazy. Edit made.
No, nowhere near it. Dont think he was ever ever even dropped after establishing himself, and nor should he have been.
Was our best defender even at that point (post craig bolton retirement) rarely ever beaten in the contest and was also proactive in turning defense to attack, rebounded as good as anyone, reliable kick that chose good options.
Would hope there was more to it than that.
Anyway wasnt Gray signed after trade week or whatver was done
Couldve done with some genuine mid options.

He wasn't making it as a forward. Burst onto the scene against the tigers but never looked any good again until he was moved into defence

How the Blue's land Papely with the Eagles involved!!
At the Eagles the most likely players to look for a trade are Brander and Petrucelle.
A player like Fisher would interest the Eagles.
Blue's give up Zac Fisher plus their 1st pick 9/10. Get Papely.
Swans lose Papely gain pick 9/10 and Brander. Swans need a tall ready to go and Brander is ready to go. Stuck behind Kennedy, Darling, Allen, McGovern and Barrass.
Petrucelle to Blues for their 2020 2nd to even the deal?

Interesting. Not sure what it would take to get Melbourne to trade him though. He is on a healthy contract as well.
I think the main cause of Melbourne's issues was when they convinced themselves McDonald was an elite forward.
He is a much better defender.
could probs just do that with reid and go for a real kpf
Not bad. Personally Id rather include our second round pick and leave Papley and Carlton's first pick out of it.

Haven't had the chance to watch Brander much this year but wasn't he playing on the wing rather than key position? Not sure we've got a need there, could probably ask Blakey to have a crack if we wanted a tall winger.

Would personally rather just have Carltons first pick and Fisher than getting Brander, just dont think hes good enough at the top level. Wce played him on the wing at start of season dont think we need another tall unless theyre a key defender.

Quite possibly but two in the same squad is an issue. Do we need more players with average to poor footskills? I’d be on board if Brand wasn’t there

We could do with a forward/ruck. The query is whether he’s good enough in either position. I’m on the fence with this proposed one.
Brander is a CHB / CHF.
He's being poorly developed at the Eagles on a wing because they have too many quality talls he can't get a game in his best position.
Swans need both. Reid will be let go surely, need help for Buddy. Two weeks ago the Swans were devoid of talls due to injuries.
Don't see Fisher going to NSW, can see him heading West.
