There is no way they could get Caldwell past Kangaroos in the PSD so he's talking utter shit.
If he took him through the National Draft they would have to use 7 or 8 anyway

We will be lucky to get anything, we've made it pretty clear we are happy for him to walk which kills any strength we have at the trade table
Happy with what we've done. It's fairly boring but boring can be good when you have a settled list. Happy no supporters have stopped supporting the club after those five players, Evans, Cameron and Haines left..

If someone was prepared to take his full wage off our books, a future 3rd rd pick would probs be the best we can hope for.
Get a 2021 pick back to break even from the Markov trade and $500k+ off our books to put towards an A grader next year

If we can get 100% of his reported wage off our books, restructure existing deals to front end loyal servants likes Bowes, Ainsworth, Miller, Collins, Powell (not money hungry players like Grablett who will leave after getting the lion share of their cash) and then bank the cash and go again next year to bring in a gun.
I'm happy to take pick 5 to the draft.
This draft will be the easiest Cameron will do. Pick 5 is the easiest spot to draft from as you just take whatever falls to you and you don't have to overthink it too much.
On AFL.com they were talking about us paying part of his wage, that would be disappointing

You could throw in Johnstone and Nicholls in there too, think we will stockpile them for the academy series next year to see which ones go the best against serious completion. No use throwing away money on a contact if they won't play seniors next year and many of them have undeveloped bodies
