I'll see you Anzac day, yeah, 2MP? lol

Gold Coast and Essendon are moving closer to a trade for Peter Wright.

Discussions between the clubs are continuing, with the Bombers offering a future fourth-round selection for the key-position player.

The Suns will need to pay a portion of Wright’s wage and he will fill a hole Essendon has been trying to fill ever sine Joe Daniher committed to Brisbane.

Wright’s salary is more than $500,000 per year and he has two seasons to run on his deal. But he fell out of favour with Suns coach Stuart Dew in 2020 and didn’t play a senior game

Gold Coast is keen to get a large portion of that money off its books and will angle for a future third-round selection.

Either way, the trade is a salary cap dump more than a swap of player and picks. Sources are confident Gold Coast and Essendon will come to a resolution next week before the Thursday night deadline.

Wright would also need to agree to leave, which he has effectively done so already.

This has got to be the quietest trade period Suns board I've ever seen, I suppose its a good thing

Identified targets to suit system/style/playing position/mentality

Executed early .... core business done and move on to draft

Anything else that falls out of the trade tree is a bonus

Good work GCS

I don't rate 2MP much at all but a future fourth is a poor return, even if it is a complete salary dump. Needs to be in the third round at least.
yeah, Suns want a future 3rd round, which is likely what they'll agree to eventually. Especially if they're paying part of his salary

Craig Cameron confirms that we're just looking for points next year to help get Academy players in. That's going to be 2MP's purpose pretty much. sigh
Points? Can just pre list them. lol Unless he thinks they expect to be matching bids next year.
