It would only really appeal to downgrade pick 1 if we could get a later 1st Rd pick and an established player.

Imagine what the Bulldogs would be prepared to give up in terms of players to get #1 pick plus Jamarra...

I’m not sure if there’s a club that will have the picks to make such a trade.

Sydney maybe, if they can convince Carlton to trade their first round pick in the Papley deal.

Brisbane if we totally bomb out this year, as we have our own first, and Ports.

Clubs might also be willing to trade a 2020 first for a 2021 first round pick, as 2021 is already being discussed as a stronger draft on the basis of last years U16 national carnival.
More so just throwing out the premise of downgrading from pick 1
Get DGB + another asset.

Maybe, but if they're pushing the top 4, they wouldn't want to part with any decent players.

I guess the big question is, would you trade pick 1, if the two players in the conversation for pick 1 were another Matt Rowell type mid, or a forward/ruck similar to Ben King?

As I mentioned in my previous post, I could definitely see a team with a pick in the 7 to 10 range willing to trade their pick for your future 2021 pick.

So if DGB slid down the draft order because teams in that range didn’t need a KPD, you could trade your future first for a position of need pick.

Pretty much what Melbourne did this year.

"Brad is one of my best mates, he knows how I feel, but in saying that, I've learnt … it is up to Brad," Walker said. "I'm not going to tell him what to do. It is up to Brad to decide where he thinks it is best for his future.

"Everything is on the table for him. The footy club is there to support him. If he stays, I'd love that. If he doesn’t stay, that's up to him. I won't give him a send-off. I've learnt."

It was more of his demeanor, he seemed like he was almost backing the Crouch move

We still lack an A grade mid to consistently get 30+ possies a game.

Fiorini is probably our best chance to move into this category this season if he continues to improve. Went from averaging 21 in 2018 to 25 in 2019.

But if he doesn’t, we certainly need to bring in someone who is. I think BCrouch at the right price would be amazing for our best 22.

Viney doesn't add to what we already got. He would be behind Swallow,Fiorini,Miller and ahead of Miles
Crotch adding to GCS don't look that great either. On paper he is good with Adelaide, no guarantee with GCS. I think GCS should look at Hurley or quarterback players not mid.

Back the name change to “crotch”
I don't want him , that's why I don't even care to check his name spelling. He is not coming to a wooden spoon team, only use GCS as leverage to get a better deal with Adelaide or other Victoria team . Brodie, Rowell, Anderson, florini need to play more in AFL with other senior players, Brodie and florini both going to be 23 and 24 next years.

He won't come for the right price, GCS need to overpaid him. GCS should follow GWS and Brisbane path, keep the core group together , sell other less impressive player for draft pick. Brett Deledio was the only high profile import after they came into the competition.

Seeing improvement will attract players

If all those top 10 pick (Rankine, Lukosius, Ben King, Flanders, Rowell, Anderson, Brodie, Bowes, Ainsworth ) are properly develop like GWS, Keeping them (salary cap) together going to be big issue, not yet include renew Bowes, Florini, Powell, Ballard, sharp, Weller, Brodie next contract (2021,2022) or upgrade Budarick and Rosa if they are up to AFL standard ). Brad going to sign 5-7 years for his next contract, front load or not salary cap going to be big issue like Sydney Buddy contract.

A team like GWS with some success and lots of first round pick is more worried about keeping their core group together than getting somebody in.

Bowes, Brodie (and supposedly now Sharp) have already re-signed on long term. We also have let go of Martin who would've taken up at least 300-400K AND only 2 years ago we offered Lynch over $1mil for him to stay. I don't think our cap is bursting at the seams to be honest

Do you know how much their salary increase for contract extension? Bonar extend with GWS but because of salary cap to keep cognilio they let him go for nothing pick.Luko, Rankine, Ben King next year salary at least 400-500 k, Bowes and Brodie should be around 500-600k eat up Martin and Lynch salary easily.

BRADON Ellis and Greenwood only 300k a year? Bowes, Swallow, witts, Brodie extend their contract with no increase in salary?

Even then you could still probably fit in a player on 800-900k a year. Especially seeing as Hanley and Harbrow are in the late stages of their career, you'd think that those two alone would free up around 800K-1Mil of cap space

If an A-grade mid like Brouch wanted to come to our club at seasons end, it would be bloody hard to say no.
Or, end of trade week. He never intend to come, use GCS as a bait. How many times we see all this kind of post when GCS can't get players Fan want or players reject GCS for other club. I don't believe IF any more.
