2020 Draft and Trades Thread

I heard we suggested Treloar for pick 1 last year and it was knocked back by you guys.

How how Treloar for pick 5 look this year?

He seems to have taken his game up another notch this year (all in averages per game):
- 1st in disposals
- 1st in contested possessions
- 7th in clearances
- 3rd in metres gained (out of all mids)
- Bear in mind he accomplished all of this despite his injured game, and much lower Time on Ground compared to Neale, Petrcca, Macrae etc

Sort of player I would be ok with giving up that pick for.

to be completely honest, i don't give a flying fu** about the draft this year. i'm sick of the draft being the best part about our season.

unless we trade picks away for experience, another 18 year old kid (unless they're matt rowell's clone) isn't going to inspire hope in me anymore. i've seen it all before...

Will Phillips is not far off a Matt Rowell clone but no guarantee we get him at our pick.

As a result if we can get A grade talent the time is now.

GCS should go into draft this year with just one pick (top 10) , if you can't get one pick right in this year draft , most probably your trade in will be d grade . A grade player but like Shiel (GWS) so so with Essendon .Not all A grade players can gel with new teammate , even cog have a bad year with GWS with the same teammate.

He is the type of player we need to look to bring in, use the pick 5 as currency to get it done.

He’s 28 next March. Does that fit our list age profile moving forward. I would’ve thought someone in the 25-26 years bracket would be better.

I would throw the kitchen sink at Andy McGrath.

And if that didn’t work, half a sink at Treloar.

We desperately need a mature A grade mid.

I used to think he was trash with ball in hand (was top 10 in clangers this year too)
But his 2019 was elite.
Good outside/inside player. Can kick a goal.
West Coast's salary cap might be stretched?

Zach Merrett
Don't love him as a player but would clearly be our best mid. Some talk that he is disgruntled at Essendon.

Perryman to play wing
- Don't know if it is just GWS play style but his possession map is 75% in the defensive half. Might enjoy being an attacking winger more, with Ellis the defensive winger.

Brandon Parfitt
- May be able to offer more than Geelong can. Fast, good tackler, can play forward a bit.

I think you can rule out any GWS player. No way a player drafted to an expansion team will go to another expansion team that is lower than them on the ladder.

Nice neat kick but seems very passive.
Does he use his kicking weapon to much advantage?

We could always do with good kicks, perfect experience so would be into it - just not sure what I'd give up.

Swallow - Average Disp 17.36, TK 59, CL 55, TOG 78.4%

I like Brayshaw and both have had sub par years, but we need a player that automatically demands to be first picked in the middle.

Guess the 3 games Brayshaw played as a first choice midfielder
This guy came 3rd in the Brownlow medal - he is better than Swallow, although, also has significant flaws.
He hasn't been given the role at Melbourne since 2018.
In saying that, I would definitely prefer Salem.

I don't see Treloar wanting to leave. This is from last year when the Pies asked what we would give up for Pick 1.

The Treloar conversation started when Collingwood asked Gold Coast what it would take for them to part with their prized No. 1 pick.

The Suns have never had any intention of parting with a first selection they are desperate to use on Victorian wonderkid Matt Rowell.

But it was in those discussions that Treloar’s name was raised. There are conflicting versions around which club raised the idea first, but multiple sources said the Pies considered the trade “for a little bit”.

It’s understood that slight delay didn’t sit well with Treloar, who has repeatedly spoken of his love for Collingwood, his teammates and coach Nathan Buckley.

Treloar this year bravely disclosed his battle with anxiety, admitting he has struggled off-field in recent seasons with the pressure to perform.

“If it wasn’t for them guys, the love and support from my teammates (I would have stopped playing),” Treloar told Fox Footy earlier this year.

“I love those guys, I love the Collingwood Football Club; I’m always going to be a black and white man. I absolutely love the place — still have my struggles — but from where I (was) 12 months ago I am that far ahead.”

Yes like Salem option much better as he brings an uplift in skill and awareness that is required when the pressure is on
