I find it funny they gave us all those concessions just to take them away.
How any team can get through a season as tough the AFL with 35 is crazy
Get used to hearing about train on players.

Basically with no NEAFL, and the Suns playing in an Eastern seaboard reserves competition, you’ll (and the rest of us) will have a heap of part time reserves who will possibly receive a low base rate contract, and low match fees when playing reserves, and if needed, they can be called up to the senior team on a short term contract to cover for injuries.

For us northern clubs, these players will likely be ex academy kids who didn’t get drafted, and are studying or working part time, while still chasing the AFL dream.

How many ex academy kids can your club employ part time in the Suns merchandise shop, or other Suns related businesses.

I can see us potentially getting 37 list spots instead of 35 or something like that.
If you have 41 contracted players for next season, I can see the AFL allowing 44 or 45, so you can prelist or draft 3 or 4 kids.

Or the AFL will take away your ability to prelist academy and NT kids, because some Melbourne clubs will whine, and tell you, “we’re so sorry, but you have to go back to matching bids”, which will mean taking 3 kids at the draft.

It won't matter if they are under contract or not, right? They'll still have to cut even those in contract?
The AFL is trying to save money every where, they’re not going to pay for clubs to pay out contracted players.

DON'T really mind AFL take away pre list academy and NT kids
1) Top 5 pick
2) Alex Davies ( one second or two second round pick is enough)
3) NT Jefferey ( Brisbane can use their one of two first round pick on him i don't mind). 35 list player applied to all team ,better use second round pick on Alex Davies and let other eg team Brisbane use their first round pick and bid on academy or NT kids if they think is worth to use first round. Gold coast might get good return for third pick after team filled up their list spots.

* Finally Brisbane Ah chee second round pick worth something . My hope is Brisbane and Geelong bid academy kids like crazy, they are some good non- academy kids around in mid 20.

Not sure why you would try and link Brisbane to Jeffrey.

Brisbane is very unlikely to bid on an academy kid unless we genuinely want them.

We’ve only ever bid on one nga kid in the past, Charlie Cameron’s little brother.

If GC did lose their ability to prelist academy prospects, then I would think GC’s two second round picks to cover bids for Davies and Jeffrey.

Unless we make big inroads this year I can’t see the AFL taking away all the concessions. I do think there is a lot of deadwood on our list and if they were to say lists will be cut to 35 and you can keep the extra 10 rookies that means we only have to cut 6 players this year which would be responsible cause if it goes to 35 that’s 19 players minimum delisted from our list.. wouldn’t look good from the afl during this time

Guess a lot will depend on how much the Vic teams will whinge, because the AFL is trying to save money, but spending extra dollars on your extended list.

I’m all for saving money so some list cuts would be fine, but could you imagine Geelong if the afl just got rid of all concessions.

Geelong ain’t losing that pick.
Nobody care , what Geelong do anywhere , as you said GCS can use second rd pick on alex Davies and Jeffery plus top5 pick . 3 pick on 35 list is pretty good without NEAFL. Apart from that you just repeating 35 list every week here without any official all need yet .

Dude, I was replying to someone else, who mentioned Geelong.

My post in reply was tongue in cheek.

Nor did I mention 35 player lists. A couple of GC posters I replied to did though.

Anything else you want to pull me up on that I actually didn’t mention or introduce in to the conversation?

If we have more contracted players than the new 35 list spots next year then there will need to be a transition over 2 years to wind that back, as what is the point of delisting contracted players and playing them out in full.

How to you feel when i keep reply to your post. You are doing the exact same thing to some of the post here when they voice out opinion different than yours regarding 35 list . Just let them have their said. i am not saying you are wrong but neither are they who disagree with you until AFL announce it .

The difference is, I’m replying to someone about something they actually said.

You’re reply to me, was about stuff other people said, but you laid it at me.

I have no problem with people having a different opinion to me, that’s part of the joys of discussion.

I do have a problem with someone if that person has a go at me about stuff I didn’t say.

Do you understand this?

Read my previous post again if you’re not sure.

I don’t have an opinion about 35 player lists. (Well I do, but we haven’t had that discussion here yet, I think) I enjoy the discussion about how we get there, the if’s, but’s and maybes.

Pardon the intrusion Suns fans, there's a bit of discussion about the vices and virtues of Peter Wright on our board. I think (?) he resigned with you last year, but with the list cuts and having Day, King and Luko, some think there might be opportunity to recruit/trade for Wright. What's the likelihood of GCFC letting go of either Wright or Day?
...and incidentally, what have been Wright's main deficiencies?

I think wright is more likely to seek other opportunities elsewhere than Day.. clearly king has surpassed what most people thought wright would be already and more likely to get upset playing in the twos than Sam day

Yeah I'd be a bit sour too. Where does Wright go wrong on the field? ...would prefer to be playing in the ruck?
With Wright for us, it is his lack of aggression at times. He doesn't throw himself at the marking contest as hard as he should for a bloke 2m tall and around 100kg. He is a great kick for goal but getting him that shot is the hard part.

GC seems well placed to make some really significant gains now. Ellis and Greenwood should ease the burden on Swallow and Miller, and with Rowell and Anderson being given some protection, delivery into King and Luko makes GC a scary prospect over the next few years. And those mids being fed by Witts.

Maybe coaches like Rutten and Cara can bring out the manbeast in Wright. We've been a soft team for too long, but already we're seeing some Richmondesque hardness about the way we're playing, which has been encouraging.
