If he is too slow can always swing Ben King back ( he play defend before he drafted by GCS and Max king injured his knee) and move Wright forward, depend on opposition, not every team have Max king or Jeremy Cameron playing for them.
I am not saying will be a success, is a trial move rather than get back third round pick in two years time for 2mp , eg Chris tarrant a brilliant forward for Collingwood and move to Fremantle can't play forward and AA as defender then move back to Collingwood as defender.
Yeah lets not do that just to attempt to make 2MP into a player.

Wright can't even make a contest in the forward line let alone in the back 50.

He is playing in the second, what harm to trial him there in reserve? You guy are just too conservative, everybody said lukosius is soft last year, this year after the first round vs port , everybody jump on him and said he can't play back can't mark.

We can definitely trial 2MP back in the second, My main issue is putting Ben King back.

You need to prepare for this, if Collins, Ballard or Lukosius are injured during matches you need to swing somebody back to help out. Geelong move Harry Taylor, hawthorn move Sicily, gunston etc.

Well that would be an interesting hypothetical scenario where it would be acceptable.

But let's not move him for no reason, It's just going to disrupt his KPF progression.

That's fair enough. But to do that in a match due to injury, you have to have Wright in the best 22. And if you mean for the next game, then Hombsch Graham Burgess or Mclennan probably come in. And if those 4 aren't up to scratch, then your idea about Wright trialling down back is valid.

If GCS going to draft KPP in the draft who is likely not available if GCS continue to move up the ladder, why not prepare Wright early rather than wait until end of 2020. GCS cannot waste time, burgess, hombsh, mcleennan all not close to Thompson height, only Wright and Ben King are more than 2m.

I have no idea what they plan to do in the draft but why not try and trade for a KPP.......after all, we're fast becoming a "destination club"..... ;)

Hehehehe, mason Cox, daniher, rance.buddy. GCS already have two in Lukosius and Ben King.

From the weekend's scratchie...

Caleb Graham:

Caleb was excellent in defence and one of our best players on the day. He didn’t get beaten all game and not only did he defend his man, but he also supported his other teammates well in marking contests. We’re looking forward to more performances like this from Caleb to keep the pressure on the senior backline players

I don't get why people are fearful to get it wrong sometimes, Peter Wright is a top 10 pick, compare to Majak Daw and Mason Cox, he should be better in term of flexibility. I am not asking him to be superstar, but decent replacement playing as back men. If you going to get 3rd pick like scrimshaw, no harm expose him as a backmen, might even improve his forward craft playing against top forward.

* touk Miller is limited before round 2,now Peter Wright is limited.

Backmen need to punch the ball to spoil or intercept read the play, forward need to mark or bring the ball down to small forward. Wright as 2 meter should have long enough hand to spoil before opposition mark the ball in theory even if he is slow off the mark, sticking his hand to spoil is not really hard as long he don't punch people face.

So who we got long term to replace Harbs & Hanley?

Bowes ✅ Excellent, but wasted in defence.
Buderick ✅ Excellent.
Joyce ❓Decent injury cover only?
McLennan ❓Needs to debut.
Riordan ❓ Injured - needs to debut.
Dawson ❓ Worth persisting with?
Murdoch ❌ Delist when out of contract.

Lemmens - try again in defence?
Fletcher - try as a rebound defender?

Out of contract:
C.Ellis - delist
Heron - delist
Hanley - retired
Harbrow - retired

Or do we trade in a quality rebound defender? 💰

Here is the list of free agents. It is fairly clear that we need to target defenders in the trade period.
