Forgot about Davies, smooth mover for a tall unit too
And then we have a 22yr old midfielder who finds the ball at will who averaged 26touches a game last year finished 5th in best and fairest and is part of our leadership group.
Aka Fiorini who can’t get a look in..
And if he not playing midfield..
why have him?

They don't need him, reckon the Bummers would be coming hard though

I beg to differ, Brodie could be the exact sort of player that would assist Cripps in the clinches. I reckon we could give you a player in return that you may have a need for as well which might work better for both clubs.

The only players we would want from the Blues are the players you wouldn't want to give up. Our list has moved past needing fringe players like Darcy Lang types.

Plus the next deal we do with the Blues they have to overpay. That Martin no deal still burns.

Yeah, I think its probably wise that Brodie looks elswhere. When he re-signed he probably thought he had a chance, but since then.. Greenwood and Rowell has come into the club.

Tough to break into the midfield. Just ask Fiorini.

We will give you Darcy Lang F.O.C.

As for 'overpaying', no club is ever going to retrospectively even up for a supposedly lopsided deal. It was a total cluster**** from both clubs that saw Martin leave, neither club could agree on a compromise and then the Blues snagged him as a freebie.

Strangely enough, I reckon Marchbank (and Plowman) are expendable from our list.
Marchbank is a interceptor and Ballard and Collins are very good at that already. We reallt need a number one key defender. Id love Weitering to actually but there is absolutely 0 percent chance he ever leaves Carlton

Zerk-thatcher at the bombers looked to be a promising key defender who is behind Hurley/Hooker so someone gettable we could look at if we dealt with them for a player in a position of need.

I didn't mind Ballard last night, showed something.

If you are after a key position defender, then you may have to stump up a few players (eg. Brodie & Fiorini ??) to squeeze one out of another club. Thing is, I can't think of a good one that may be gettable right now.

Hurley & Hooker are about to retire, they will need that Zerk to replace one of them.

If Greenwood was unavailable for any reason, Brodie would be a natural choice to replace him. With the shorter quarters & longer breaks between goals, Greenwood is not needing a rest, so we only need one of those 2 players in the team. On pre-season form, Brodie is AFL standard, but circumstances have been against him this season.

I'd hold brodie to contract, I think too much is made out of him not playing this year, he would have been so close at rd 1, and then greenwood, swallow, miller have been all playing better then my expectations all year. Yes, when Swallow was suspended, I was surprised he wasn't getting a call up, but we had Rowell in the middle then, and so we went with pace iirc. He would be fuming but I think once he gets his chance again, he won't be out of the side until he retires.

If we want to move Brodie on, now is the time, in contract so we hold the whip hand in negotiations, but has only played 20 AFL games so that hurts his value a bit, but he is taking a decent wage and we aren't using him.

I really want minimal changes at all. I don't want to lose wright, or brodie, or any of our players. I want to use this year to breathe from a list management perspective, watch who is doing what, and make some moves at the end of next year. We've got our talent, let's hold, watch it, and then next year we can make some tweaks.

Use the draft, maybe even trade for futures, stockpile our picks and let our current group of under 21s take their game to the next level before adding talent that will be probably playing 2s for a while
