Bulldog need a forward/ruck to help English , instead of looking at Brisbane Martin or Majak , Wright is the perfect candidate for Bulldog. bulldog first Rd for Wright ,2 GC second.
Use pick 5 and bulldog first round to move up to pick 2 .should be enough point for their academy players .

Is it to late to turn 2MP into a ruckman.

Surely he is more valuable around the ground then Zac smith.

we need the bombers dogs north Hawks etc to all start a bit of bidding war for his services.
And Wright to say..
I’ll go to anyteam that satisfy the Suns the best.

What happens next year if King and/or Day get injured?
I’ve asked this a few times and nobody has an answer.
Do what teams do when they either have 0 tall forwards or if they are injured, you work around it. Go with a different set up. (small//medium forwards)

Be glad suns have two options... Not everyone has that luxury lol

Theres no way I’m going to accept a list that isn’t properly balanced. That is not a solution.

We haven't lost Wright or Corbett yet, they are still contracted gold coast players.

Sexton plays best out of full forward, I think rankine would as well. We can put numbers behind the ball and kick the ball into space so our small fwd line can run onto the ball. Lukosius is almost due to be put back into the fwd lines where he was drafted for now he looks to have picked up the speed of the game and will have had his 3rd pre season. Murtagh could play a second ruck/fwd role. We could play 2 rucks with Smith and have one resting fwd. The crows could take Mcdonald and Thilthorpe could slip to us at pick 5.. lots to play out.

I actually don't mind keeping Wright , problem is Thompson 5 years deal around the same money like Brodie and Wright .

Too much focus on Brodie and Wright but what about Thompson can't move at all and noise getting Treloar and Crouch with 600-700k .

Corbett can move to CHF.

Lukosius can move to CHF.

Or Sexton can play either CHF or FF.

Also Conroy and Murtagh waiting in the reserves. Both big units.

Or the break glass in emergency scenario of playing 2 ruckman (Witts & Smith) and rest a ruckman up forward.

Lots of options.

Wright is not worth much, if the Bombers were to cover his full wage I wouldn't be asking for too much.
We have ALOT of room in our salary cap. Would well and truly offer pick 66 (our next is 72) for Wright. Take on his whole wage and move on. We do have pick 47 but I personally would like to hold onto that. Maybe a future 3rd could do.

Then you can ask for a top 10 pick when he wants to leave in 2 years

Sounds like something our previous recruitment team would jump at, let’s see what this one does

I like a few would prefer to keep Wright .
Big men who can play forward and ruck are rare commodity at present .
We have no serious back up for key forwards or rucks, and serious injuries too King or Witts would leave us very vulnerable.
Our back up rucks at this stage are nowhere near Ist standard .
We have Ben King a future star our main target;
Sam Day honest at best with little presence as a backup ruckman.
Josh Corbett more a floating forward who has shown genuine improvement but doesn't have the size to be a main central target.
Quality depth is a key to making a successful rise up the ladder.

Iva, I'm a health professional who's worked at QLD Health hospitals for >10 years (and still do). The fact that you work for QLD health in some capacity doesn't change anything I've said.
I have stated twice now that I would drop this subject so I can only assume you coming back to the well is to goad me. So here we go

congratulations on 10+ years in the health service you should be rightfully proud but I can only assume you raise that issue to somehow justify that your point of view is better because of your service, Well guess what, it’s irrelevant. what I have said is an opinion built off my experiences and beliefs as is yours nothing more or less, so can we agree to disagree and move on, if not just block me mate as I already have a Mum.

All the best for the remainder of your career

In an ideal world you would keep Wright but negotiate a smaller contract and shave 200k off of it, but that is impossible. I would rather offload Wright if it meant having cap space to fit our future guns.

Another way is you could shift Wright out and he takes his 500-600k with him, and bring in someone as pure depth across that key forward line, just in case someone goes down.

Agree, but to keep quality depth, those fringe players have to agree to accept less money because they want to be part of a winning culture.
They have to be prepared to wait for for their shot in the best 22. And we aren't quite there yet.

Our quality depth is on too much coin. Wright $500k, Fiorini $450k, Brodie $400k.
Would even be interesting to know what Lemmens, Holman, MacPherson, Hombsch, Murdoch, etc are on. I'm guessing probably 50k-75k more than they should be? It all adds up.

But I think Cameron is definitely heading in the right direction, just going to take another year or 2 of fringe guys coming out of contract and us making the right decisions on who we re-sign, who we let go and who we trade in... & players willing to accept less to stay.

This is it, our depth is on too much coin, which is symptomatic of us at the bottom of the ladder hoping to attract players, now we are beginning to climb it means we can attract players while not having to overpay too much.

Fioini, Brodie and Wright go there is $1.35m off the wage budget, then you replace that with blokes roughly on Avg AFL wage which is about 350k, the absolute most you want to pay 'depth', you have just found 300k space from just downsizing.

Conroy and Murtagh are unproven at even NEAFL level and are still out of contract

Adam Cooney reckons Trealor should head back to GWS, bit interesting? Anyone else were interested in other than Markov?

Oleg Markov for a future 3rd.
