Hey BriZ there seems to be a change to what was called the Long Term Injury list, it's now called the Inactive lists. I can't quite get it but it seems if you have a long term injury, that player can be made 'inactive' and the list spot can be filled. The example I briefly read about is Gibbs at the Crows. The have to have him on the list to pay out his contract but apparently they can immediately make him 'inactive' and then go to thew rookie draft. Haven't found the direct rules on it yet.

It would seem, if we get near the mid season draft, lets say Birtchell is doing it tough, we could move him to this 'inactive' list with early retirement and go into the draft to fill the spot. Is that your knowledge of the change?
I haven’t read about the name change, but that’s how it works.

Long term injury list is still a separate thing.

Go on LTI list, no play for 6 rounds minimum and a B rookie can play in your spot during that time.

Going to be injured for whole season, move from LTI list to inactive list, creating a list spot for that year. If club fills during midseason draft then if able to play before the end of the year the only way to resume a list spot is for another player to be made inactive for that season.

AFL tweaks long-term injury list eligibilty to give clubs greater flexibility… https://www.afl.com.au/news/477274/...-eligibilty-to-give-clubs-greater-flexibility

I found this tagged on the bottom of this article on the AFL site about who gets a life line. I don't know if Gibbs is injured or just retired.

"Adelaide was forced to re-rookie Bryce Gibbs on Thursday in order for the retired half-back to receive his payout for 2021.

However, the Crows will be able to move Gibbs immediately to the inactive list and use a selection in the SSP or Mid-Season Rookie Draft"

Yeah, I did read that.

Melbourne falling in a heap next year would be mighty handy...

One of these future first rounders we trade has got to work out in our favour eventually surely. Though with our luck so far, Melbourne will probably make the prelim at the minimum.
The real strength of next year’s draft is not just the top end talent, but the depth of the second tier of talent.

I’m not concerned where either of our picks fall next year.

And the fact there will be no nga’s diluting the depth of the top 20 picks.

Will pick 18 be the Premiers next year?
Would be nice.
Been a while since that has happened.

Likely not because Collingwood father son Nick Daicos is at the moment rated one of the top 2-3 talents in the draft pool for 2021.
**** Collingwood!
It would be great to have an uncompromised first round for once.

We could have one in the 2022 draft, Marcus Ashcroft's son Will is very highly rated in that draft, IIRC was named under 16 All Australian captain.

All of this supposition that Will Ashcroft will nominate F/S for us, and I am yet to see anything that links him with us. Grew up with the Suns - is he in their academy?

He isn't in their academy. He will either nominate us (highly likely) or go in the regular draft.

Yeah but that’s ok 👌🏻

Hopefully Fagan still coaching then you would feel pretty comfortable as a parent having Chris fagan watching out for your boy . Let’s just hope Ashcroft doesn’t go Marc Murphy on us . Surely get Marcus into our team somehow ?

Most of Twomey's top rated players appear to be midfielders and medium sized forwards.

Saw someone mention on another board that Cockatoo had an impressive draftee highlights video...

Almost rivals the Cal Bartlett one from 10 years ago that I may have watched a few times over the years.

He has some burst of speed. Hopefully we can get him fit and benefit accordingly. Something to look forward to.

Talls seem to jump up later in the year and we probably havent seen enough of the underage Vic talls to have them on the list yet. Plus the draft we just had was packed full of talls so makes sense to have a bunch of mids up next

Most of everyone’s top 20-30 is choc full of mids are medium defenders and forwards.

There’s two KPP over in WA and a KPF in Vic who are rated. Plus I believe both the Geelong Falcons and GWV Rebels might have decent ruck prospects.

Watching the get to know you Q&A with Harry Sharp on the Lions socials.

Q: Which team did you support growing up?
A: Gold Coast.

That’s the third kid from this year’s crop say Gold Coast.

Not one kid has mentioned Brisbane.
