And if Tilthorpe or McDonald are there?

I wouldn’t be disappointed in either. I just think Hollands is exactly the Mid we need. Good on both sides, X factor. Dusty like. Fits perfectly with Worpel and Finn for our young future midfield. Then we go about building spine in key position forward and defender with next picks and next years draft. Hope to god Mitch Lewis pulls finger out and develops

We need mids, but i think this will be 2004 all over. We'll take the key fwd should he be there.

Potentially, then target Mids next year. Or we get another first somehow and select a mid later in first round.
2004 we were able to target key forwards as we had already selected Hodge and Mitchell.
Like I said would be happy with Hollands Tilthorpe or McDonald however I hope we go Hollands.

Our hand looks likes its been forced. We will have to play kids. No way do I want Clarko to send the side out with any other mentality apart from learning how to win.

That is a Melbourne or Carlton mentality. If it means pick 8 instead of 2 so be it.
100%. That shit sticks to you for a generation if you go down the tanking path.

As I have said before, I believe Crows will select Riley Thilthorpe for the following reasons
- not much between Thilthorpe; McDonald; Hollands & Ugle-Hagan
- home grown talent
- Key forward / Ruckman

Also , there is absolutely no chance the Crows will select JUC, knowing the Dogs will certainly match. They wouldn’t want the embarrassment of their No.1 selection going somewhere else. Which would also be embarrassing for their next No.1 selection knowing he wasn’t their first choice.

North, on the other hand , would definitely select both JUC & Campbell, on the slightest chance (0.000001%) they end up with either. Therefore leaving a choice of McDonald,Hollands or even Phillips.

Leaving the Hawks a selection of either McDonald or Hollands (win/fcucking/win)

Thoughts ?

I think you are reading it right. The lack of game time for Vic based players means we aren’t going to see players shift up and down the order you would imagine. Hard to see a bolter enter the top 3.

It's not tanking by looking to future. The players won't be going out there trying to lose.

This should be about accepting the harsh reality of where we are as a club, and addressing it by not playing the players that won't be around in two years time.

Tanking is deliberately losing games. Tanking is playing Frawley at FF like Melbourne did, etc.

I just watched Holland’s highlights. Yup I’m all in. Exactly what we need. Can’t tell if he is left or right foot kick! Also those long handballs from in traffic to the outside. Plus a mid goal kicker. With Sic going down 2021 is a development year so perfect to ease him in for 12 months with his knee and aim for 2022.
Some of his movements remind me of a young Luke Hodge. Good on both feet, great vision, maybe has Hodge for speed but we could do worse than another like him 😁

Keen to take a look with all this thread hype. Can you share the link?

Elijah Hollands is the one I want from the reading I’ve done on the top prospects. A tall, hard at it, classy mid with good skills that can go forward- sounds like the perfect type for our midfield in the modern game.. I’ll have faith in our medical staff to get his ACL recovery right.

Will Phillips sounds great too but maybe too much of a similar type to our current mids- Mitchell, Worpel, JOM etc

With Logan McDonald the lack of pace/athleticism and in particular ability to play at ground level really worry me.. with the modern game you need key position players to be good below their knees so they are still useful once the ball is brought to ground and are dangerous with their 2nd efforts. I feel like lead up mark only type key forwards are becoming obsolete, they are too easy to defend...

Nice to see North up to their old tricks by trading us pick 21-23 this year as well as some cream that helped with the Finn bid all for pick 30 in last years draft.
Is it just me, or do North deserve a picture of our four premiership cups from 2008 onwards to say thankyou for their contribution?

Same here with Hollands.

I believe that Lewis will end up being one of our key forwards for the next decade. Who knows with Patton though?

But one thing for sure is we desperately need some class and a point of difference in the midfield, which is what Hollands provides - size, pace and skill. We especially need this if Wingard isn't going to get a good chance, which is frankly baffling for several reasons.

Hopefully Finn takes the next step and joins in the rotation. We could have Mitchell as a permanent midfielder, but throw so many different variations at teams with Worpel, JOM, Wingard, Hollands and Finn playing through the middle and rotating forward.

With Sicily out I'd like Wingard to playing midfield and the old Mitchell role off the Halfback, get some zip from the backline through CJ, Day, Frost and Wingard.

So basically we can't afford to move up from our current position, if we remain 16th we'll get one of the players mentioned above.

Correct. It would great if North Melbourne can somehow win 1 or 2 of their remaining games.

Kennedy and Hawkins like this.
It does make me wonder why those type of forwards win the Coleman so often though? 🤔
