Over McDonald?? Massive call.
Agreed.
Considered a low-flight risk, father played there. Best talent in the draft.

it’s just what my guy has heard.

I wouldn't say his kicking is bad. You haven't really been watching his technique. It's decent enough already and could get better to become elite.

The main problem with CJ is his decision making and composure under pressure. Will soon see if he improves that with more games.
I saw CJ over here for each of the games he played this year and the points you highlighted are why IMO he won't make it as a wing. He also lacks game sense, has a 'see ball, get ball' mentality which could be construed as endeavour I guess.
He has enough tools to develop but I think Greaves takes the spot they are competing for as he does have those 2 qualities. Happy to get it wrong and see him thrive though.

Good mail that the Crows do too, and will take him at 1.
Jeez it would be a wild call imo. To not take the touted as generational full foward, or the local fwd/ruck behemoth who has been doing well against men this year for the country Victorian with a recent ACL would place immense pressure on the kid and I reckon be asking for trouble- especially if he doesn't come online immediately.

I’ve got my money on Tilthorpe going 1.
We take DGB at 4, even if Hollands is On the board.
Expect a bid on Brayden Campbell by us with a glimmer of hope that the Swines don’t match
I see DGB at 3 to Syd .
The chance to grab an elite tall to couple with Campbell an elite fwd/mid is to great .

Me too halfback see that as an obvious choice.
Who knows what the Swans List Managers think though?
They do need a KPD, who'll shore up their backline for 10 years maybe.
On the other hand might throw a curve ball & grab 2 of the most talented Mids/fwds

I suspect CJ is best suited to play forward, and probably deep forward where his athleticism and aggressive instinct to hunt to the ball/opposition will be to his advantage. He moves like a mini-buddy.

If Hollands did go 1, you’d think Roos would almost certainly go McDonald at 2. Then gets interesting - Sydney have choice between the best inside mid (Phillips), best key defender (DGB) and best fwd/ruck (thithorpe)

Still reckon we would look to trade back in this scenario if someone willing to pay up.

I think you're right.

A calm head and good decisions are needed down back, or goals are given away. His athletic qualities could be more advantageous, and his limitations less damaging, if he was forward.

Can he jump?

When we get our midfield & ball movement sorted, a Liam Ryan-styled FP would be handy as Hell

*yup, I know they're very different in size & shape, but I'm talking about a FP that can be dynamic & go 'off script' sometimes - it's very hard to defend against that when the ball comes in quick & the big KPF are domination the attention of the defence

That’s Phillips or DGB for us depending on what Sydney do. Which is a massive win. Only trade back if someone is offering a high first round pick next year as the incentive, doubtful it will happen.

On Downie this is a direct message from a scout that doesn't work for the Hawks and is not speculation off watching highlights it is a considered opinion based on where he sees him at.
"I don't rate him in the first round. Think he is a player who really needed this year to iron out a few problems in his game and show recruiters that he has improved on them. They revolve around his ability to win contested ball . Was going be given more inside mid time at Eastern to give him that chance which he embraced. Against Calder he was disappointing and ended back on the outside . But that was his second go.

Not saying he is a poor prospect by any stretch but expectations need to be tempered on all prospects this year as they missed out on what is a pivotal year for development

Yeah like a lot of players he hasn’t had that opportunity. Looks a fine prospect for the wing even if he can’t become a strong contested player. It’s a good reason why next year’s draft will be very strong. All those kids who needed this year haven’t been able to develop.

I’m not sure why being Ethiopian means that he can run. Anyway he is born to Sudanese parents in an Ethiopian refugee camp. Please refrain from stereotypes as it doesn’t help anyone.

It's important to learn history.

If Adelaide were seriously going to pick Tilthorpe, they should trade their no.1 pick.

I'd propose this to Adelaide if they seriously wanted the local boy.

Swap 1 for 4 and our future second round. They still get Tilthorpe and our future second round.

Nicks is super keen on Hollands. The departure of Brad Crouch leaves them threadbare on midfielders.

Thought you guys might be interested to know about this

though I can't vouch for how reliable Hagdorn is.
Hagdorn is either pretty good or pretty bad - I forget:grimacing:. Vlahos as really good.
Doesn't mean that this particular bit of info is correct of course, but the WA guys generally aren't crazy like your Tom Browne types.

Hagdorn is bad. I believe Sydney want DGB, but definitely not because Hagdorn has said so.

Thanks for that info. Welcome to Hawthorn Elijah Hollands or Will Phillips.
