Would be madness. We look like we could be bottom 5 again next year in from all reports is a stud draft. Jason Horne from SA, is meant to be a generational midfielder. The tank for him will be on!

No idea about next year's draft, and you're right it looks like we will have another top pick. But if there's a player we like we could turn our first into a first and another pick.

Gee some key position talent will be available in the first round. Obviously some, Victoria, are not playing, but others are in South Australia particularly.

For me our key position talent is our biggest issue moving forward. If the club identifies two key position talents in the first round, I think we need to try and move Gunston (if he wants to leave) to nab a second first round pick.

With McGinness and Downie, we will have two new additions for midfield roles, mostly outside. I also think Jones needs a good run at it.

That all star game before last years GF. Its on youtube. Its surprisingly a good watch. Holland, Campbell, Ford prob best on. Has all the players playing.

I don’t think DGB was playing, who I’d happily take in the top 5. Rate him highly, perhaps higher than others, could be the next Lake (minus the brain fades). He reads it so well, and is a significant point of difference to others.

Would still rather Hollands/Campbell/McDonald, but would take DGB ahead of Thilthorpe when comparing the best talls.

Our backline would be sorted post Frawley if we went this route.

This is one of the rare drafts with a deep supply of talls that dont need 4 years of VFL and gym.

We wont get McDonald, Thilthorpe or DGB.

Turn our attention to Zach Reid and Nicklas Cox.

Why wouldn’t we if we had a top 3-4 pick?

Tbh I can't see us looking for a tall forward in the draft; Lewis, Patton, Jeka, Gunston, TOB, Ceglar, BB, Walker, and Nash all provide height in that space- given how poor our delivery into 50 has been I'm not sure the club is going to cast too many aspersions at them. Our midfield is the part of our structure that needs the most work.
I still think something has to give with regards to Worps, Titch, JOM, & Shiels- be it a positional mix or something else. We need pace and class.

Need a elite prospect key fwd like the king brothers that will hold us in good stead for the next decade

Patton is always injured, Gunston is your third tall, TOB isn't a key forward, Ceglar is an actual joke, McEvoy is a ruckman coming towards the end, Walker is Breust's height, and Nash is a pressure forward.

Our tall forward sticks are Lewis, Patton and Jeka. It's why we have none playing today.

From what I can recall Jeka is exactly that- as was Lewis a couple years ago.
The problem with players like the King brothers is they are incredibly rare talents- I'm not so sure there's anyone in this years cohort other than Thillithorpe and JUH that have earned the same wrap as them? (Could be wrong here)

Walker is taller but still not quite the KPF height- fair enough.
I think the club will back themselves in with Patton to get him right and get a few weeks into him towards the end of this season and have him ripe for next. I think Lewis will come on (oh lord the hype when he was on at the end of last year) and I reckon the club is thinking along those lines.

Not in the modern game, they are great if you can have them but they are not what you build a team around like the 80's 90's.

Patton and Lewis together in the side is fine, but that leaves Jeka alone as the reserve if someone goes down or has a slump. Both of which have been issues this season. It's an issue, but for me it's behind wing and pressure forward on the priority list.

Walker is 3cm taller than Breust by the way.

Logan Mcdonald is the one and already playing against men.

Remember we are picking someone for the next decade and hopefully more. Most of the guys listed will be gone in 3 years max. Hopefully Lewis and Jeka come good but they were late draft / rookie picks respectively - odds are against both becoming good leagues players let alone match winners.

Only one of them has extended exposed form that will be on the list in 2-3 years, and he’s coming off 3 ACL’s.

Question marks on Lewis, Jeka, Walker and Nash as marking forwards at this stage, and Gunston who is soon to be on the wrong side of 30.

We need an elite marking tall forward in this draft or the the next, and if I know Clarkson I won’t be surprised if he does all that he can this year to even grab 2.

Both Franklin and Roughead were far more highly rated than McDonald who is our only real chance of grabbing with our first pick. He won't go down that track as we desperately need guys to get good delivery on the break into the forward 50 more than anything else. Lewis on exposed form when fit with good, fast delivery showed that he can be that marking forward player for us. Patton possibly as well as Jeka. Now we just need to get it to him/them and have some high pressure and class at the feet. Go tall next year if needed.

Don’t count on it.
