Thoughts on Bailey Laurie as small fwd option Knightmare

Laurie probably won't be available in any range the Pies will be picking.

Laurie plays with good energy and effort and gives those second and third tackle efforts. Has good agility and evasion. But then also is a really nice ball user and lowers his eyes and hits those i50 targets. He offers minimal scoreboard impact and has limited scope through the midfield as the contested side of his game is only okay, but otherwise is a handy small forward. I'd like the contested side of his game to improve his probability of a career.

Second round is roughly Laurie's range.

There are enough other options later who on a value proposition for where they're getting picked perspective I'd rather have.

Jackson Cardillo, Will Papley and Pheonix Spicer are the three I like late/rookie.

And if a bid doesn't come on him early, Maurice Rioli Jr certainly by the second round I'd be bidding on in a hurry. He's another Daniel Rioli, or maybe a slightly better version.

I’d kill to have a Rioli at the pies!

Premiership in 2021? They seem to bring that. Maurice Jr brings that forward pressure. Second, third, fourth efforts. No one brings that better. He's this year's Daniel Rioli/Kysaiah Pickett equivalent. Suitable for selection late first round, and if still on the table second round, Richmond would be getting a bargain.

What’s the slight on Callow’s game that has him more 2nd round than 1st?

Knocks on Callow are his height (194cm) his athleticism and that he's a big kid playing against less big kids. Also read his consistency can be up and down.

Fair enough. Maybe get Cox and a mid then?

We'll be getting McInnes so that combination is a possibility.

Not great mobility, more of an old-school forward (though better than some in recent years) with an elite contested mark. I quite like Callow and would be happy to use a pick in the 30s onwards on him for value, but yeah questions over that athleticism and upside really (194/100 already).

Hey mate leave the Manang (& now Tooleybuc) Saints alone. I’ve got connections up there.

Daicos would struggle to be their water boy.

Agreed - he only gets to pull the boots and get parked at the end of the bench on when the other U18 lads are so knackered after having to play full games in both the A and B teams due to injuries that they literally can't sit up straight...

So Reef's birthday is on the 12/12/02, one of the youngest players in this year's top draft prospects. 192 cm utility, no exposure in his draft year due to covid 19 and looks to be a late first to early second round prospect. I think we might see a little smirk on Hinds' face draft night.

I also like Neale and Bowey, that would be a good draft night if CFC walked away with those three IMO.

I know it's hard to make any judgement from a short highlights clip (and it might be a weird comparison) but my first thought was that he reminded me a bit of Trey Ruscoe.

Tallish utility with broad shoulders and a bit of a stoop when running.
