I'd like to see us have a crack at NM pick 11, currently, for a 2021 1st rounder. This trade may not happen until draft night as I expect that pick to end up around 14, when it actually becomes 'live'. It looks likely JUH, Braeden Campbell and Lachie Jones are all likely to get bids before pick 11. I think NM may be interested, considering next years draft is rumoured to be quite strong and unless we make the top 4, NM will get a better pick. Not moving next years first is a lost first round pick opportunity. Rendall thinks clubs will be keen to secure a 2021 first rounder, so I'm confident we'll have another first round pick this year. 2 x first rounders and hopefully no bid on Reef before either of those, will make for some interesting draft reading over the next few weeks.

I get the feeling Hine rates this draft. Listening to Rendall and SOSage talking around guys like Bontempelli and Clayton Oliver, in their draft years, means it's very possible, some cracking kids will be picked up much later then they otherwise would have, had a full year at U'18 level. Ollie Lord is a very intriguing prospect that hasn't been mentioned much amongst the top prospects but I believe someone on hear has mentioned we've spoken with him multiple times.

Main one that i want outside of that top 20 odd is Callow.

I wouldn't spend a first round pick on Reid, let alone a top-5 pick!

He's a good talent, could be a key forward, maybe a tall wing. But doesn't have the production on the board to pick with confidence, nor is there any indication on his rate of improvement this year with no NAB League as to whether he has progressed meaningfully or otherwise. He's a toss of the coin recruit and not one I'd be risking a first round pick on.

JUH, McDonald and Thilthorpe are those worthwhile early draft key forwards.

Otherwise, Collingwood are better off waiting for a Jackson Callow or Kaine Baldwin late.

My view with list needs is they should be filled during the trade period. Aliir Aliir or Tom McDonald would be great as key defenders. Majak Daw if a deeper stopper was needed. Ben Brown as a key forward would have been nice, but he's likely going to Melbourne, so a Josh Jenkins would be more than fine. Collingwood can just get a key defender and move Moore into the relieving ruck spot and otherwise have him play either wing or forward to provide support there for Mihocek.

I mentioned in my list needs piece today on ESPN that this is the very approach I would have. I'd go get Aliir Aliir and use Moore as relieving ruck. That's the play that can sort out the front half and simultaneously take pressure off of Grundy if that's believed to be necessary.

When you say relieving ruck do you mean key forward and second ruck? Cox's role.

Key forward and second ruck is what I mean by relieving ruck. And there are different ways to play it. Could be someone who plays as a 200cm wing and moves into the ruck, could be a key forward going into the ruck as has been the typical model. Could be a genuine midfielder who goes into the ruck is a club discovers a genuine 200cm ball winning mid - could Luke Jackson from Melbourne become the first if he develops his midfield craft?

Moore if used forward/ruck would make Cox superfluous as Moore and Mihocek is enough high up forward when there are so many marking medium and small types up there also.

I think Moore forward is the easiest and most achievable way to resolve our key forward issues. I agree McDonald or Allir Allir are the guys to target as defensive replacements.

Moore forward would make our key defensive stocks really shaky though. Roughead looked ordinary at times this season and there isn't much behind him if we consider Kelly a forward. That said I reckon key defenders are easier to acquire.

If T.McDonald was added, from an intercepting and rebounding perspective, he's incredibly strong. He was arguably in 2015 and 2016 the best and certainly one of the best by position in the competition.

Aliir on the other hand has that intercepting to a high level.

I feel like Roughead can be upgraded upon.

Kelly I'm doubtful will be good enough as a key forward with his probability of a career higher in defence, conditional on him improving the intercepting component.

The likelihood Buckley would be prepared to switch Moore forward after his maiden AA season in a key defensive role would appear very remote and require a complete 180 on his defense first philosophy.

Whether Moore would prove to be as effective up forward is nothing but guesswork at present also and I'm sure I've read some suggestion in the media that it's his preference to play in defence.

Whoaaaa. That time by Harry Sharp is 22 seconds faster than Rantall's record last year.

Lol imagine running a 6.03 and only coming 4th in the 2k. Sharps time is mind blowing. That’s like, what, 20+ seconds faster than Rantalls record last year?

It does say in the article there a big tail wind, but reef still finished first. Quicker than i thought he was.

yeah, the wind was strong. and thats why it wont be recorded historically lol

"
It places him among the best-ever Combine times for the sprint test, however Saturday's results will not count in the historical data as there was a significant tailwind in the outdoor conditions on an athletics track. The AFL tested outdoors to comply with COVID-19 restrictions.

Nevertheless McInnes’ result will be a reminder of the 192cm prospect's talents, with key forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan running a time of 2.897 seconds."

Yeah, I was like. wtf is this kid. By the time he finished, the 2nd player was still turning the corner. Had about 500 metres on the rest of them throughout the whole thing
