Nope, doesn't seem fair at all.Put this on Crows board earlier, would this be mutually beneficial deal?
Crows give:
9, 22, 23
2021 3rd or 2021 Melbourne 2nd
Pies
14, 16
2021 1st rounder
Would ensure you get pick before McInnes, plus some points for Daicos next year.

Swans, Pies among clubs buoyed by late draft rule tweak
Clubs matching bids on Academy and father-son players will be able to use the points from picks they didn't plan to usewww.afl.com.au
Due to reduced list sizes it looks like they are letting clubs stock pile picks again just for this year to match NGA’s. ie: the rule about only having as many draft picks to match the amount of spare list spots is out the window.

yes... but there's a 20% discountA question for those more knowledgeable about how the bidding and point system works..
Let’s say we end up with something in the realm of 10, 14 and 16. Say the club who holds 11 bid on Reef.. We need to match with 14 but as there is a negative point Differential, does this then mean the required points to match pick 11 are subtracted from our 16, thus pushing it back to around 20?
These numbers are hypothetical, but the logic stands.
Cheers...
So you think we’d be happy to give away 3 first round picks for 9, a second and some points? Really....?Put this on Crows board earlier, would this be mutually beneficial deal?

We also already have 2 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd & 1 x 4th rounders, we don't need the extra picks.Nope, doesn't seem fair at all.
We give you 3 first rounders and get 1 first and a few seconds in return.
Admittedly your first is 5 picks before our current one so that does help a bit but it still seems like unders to me.
Also Ned would never do that deal because there is no way you are screwing us enough. If you remove the pick 9 then maybe Ned would do it.
It won’t happen on the night. Pay no attention to Big Footy mock drafts. So the running mock draft over on the other board had the pies BF member pass on the bud for Reef at pick 11. We then picked up Archie Perkins at 17 and Reid at 19. Thoughts? If this were to happen on the night would the pies be better off passing and getting 2 kids we rate higher than Reef?

We wont pass on reef but I like Reid over Cox personally.

Eg: BI hope your right. It will be interesting to see if they will do anything to cover the risk of that happening or if they’d just be happy to go in with the hand we have. I can see the bombers having a good look at him unfortunately as they were all over Dunkley who is a similar type marking midfielder who can play forward.
Do pies risk it? Or do something before to cover the risk? Maybe pick 14 turns into 2 picks in the 20’s? Or next years first plus pic 14 to get one of the bombers picks? Geez I can’t wait to see what we get!!
I’m starting to feel that picks 14 and 16 is too close to a potential bid for Reef. We either trade up to secure high talent before Reef or trade down to get some good kids after the Reef pick. I don’t think we can risk the current picks to get 3 in.
Therefor option A is one of the bombers pick plus Reef or option B Reef than 2 more hopefully draft sleepers.
Eg A = Perkins plus Reef
Eg B = Reef plus Callow plus Ford (based on Twomeys phantom draft not having Ford and Callow in the top 25)
Thoughts??

I'd look to move 16 and the future first as far up the order as we can, and aim for an early second as well. Might seem like handing over a lot for climbing only a few picks but provided it's before our pick 14, I think it locks us into to avoiding having to burn a first on Reef.
I'm a huge fan of Callow, and he's the reason I'd be comfortable moving on "overs" to jump up the order - provided we get something that allows us access to him later. Outside of the top handful prospects he shapes as everything we need in this draft, tall, strong, good hands and an ability to take contested marks forward of center. A draft haul of two first round selections plus Reef and Callow for me would just about be the perfect draft night and could be "the draft" we refer to when we next take home a flag.

i'd be shocked if Reef is selected by the bombers with a top 10 pick.I get it. My only concern is if the bombers are into Reef. That means we move up the order to match a bid for Reef. So we get Reef and another later first rounder and another pick for Callow or ? If we can. Rather than Reef and 2 20s picks and hold onto our futures.
