My thoughts as well.nobody is bidding on him in the top 10.
But that doesn't mean we rate him top 10. Just because he is an academy player doesn't necessarily mean he is our top pick.If someone bids on him in the top ten, and we match, then so be it. Just means someone else rated him top ten and we quite possibly do too. Teams won't risk a bid just to play funny buggers.
Just think of it as a positive that we get a top ten prospect! (if it happens)

Pretty sure he is sneakily rated top 10 in our recruiters eyes. Reef is and will be an outstanding AFL player
They will. He can be whoever you want him to be. forward. back. mid. He is taller than any of our players bar a few. He is versatile. If you want a mid who can win the ball, who is a big bodied, at 17 years old. Who can take a mark. Kick a goal.Well, I hope they get this one right.....

There really is no losing.
Herald Suns rates him at 22nd in this years best players
I know. But that will be very unlikely we'll see a bid for him that early. Many players above him at that early in the draft. That's not a bad thing, just because of no footy, and his injury.I don't doubt he is a good prospect. What i mean is that if the Pies rate him in the top 10 of this draft and so match IF say Essendon bid on him at 8, then I hope they get it right by passing up on other prospects.
Well I have a good feeling about this draft. 2 picks in the 1st round and the possibility of picking up another 1st round prospect in Reef, and that would be a major win. Also, seems to be some really good talls here, so I suspect we will get a good mix of kids which could allow us to really review the list hard over the next 12 months and move out those who just aren't improving and keep refreshing with young talent.I know. I heard the same thing and that's how I understand it, it's only for this yearI’ve been wrestling with this too.
Did I read yesterday that we can use points from late picks to match bids and we don’t have to use our next available (ie we don’t need to use 14 or 16 if we bring picks in)?
If so, I like the thinking earlier of trying to trade a future second to the suns for picks 27 and the next if they are only taking one live pick in the draft.

So do I Billy. this is a very important draft for usWell, I hope they get this one right.....
No, it’s not right. We still have to use the next available pick. We can however, stockpile as many late picks as we want to use for points. Previously we could only use as many picks as we had free list spaces. If we think a bid will come early for Reef the most prudent course of action would be to trade up the draft and trade in a crap ton of late picks to cover a bid.Is this right? Can we confirm?? So we keep 14 and 16 regardless on matching an early bid for Reef?? That’s awesome if true. Maybe 4 first round picks if we can use next 2021 1st and second! We can use the 2021 2nd rounder gained from dogs to cover the Reef bid!

Pies are playing a very straight bat at the moment to clubs. Have not committed to him and are saying they'll not necessarily match a bid. No doubt to make the likes of Essendon really question if they want to bid. My feeling is if he got bid in the top 10 we wouldn't match, but anything after the first pick (assuming we can get up), then we would. If we end up with 14 and 16, it's just making sure that 15 (or whatever these picks become) don't bid, and we'll take two players and match. If someone bids on him in the top ten, and we match, then so be it. Just means someone else rated him top ten and we quite possibly do too. Teams won't risk a bid just to play funny buggers.

Is the draft going to be done in 1 night? I hope so. The suspense will kill me!
thank youYes. Virtual event Wed 9th Dec.

Reef has a 5cm growth spurt coming up. He’s going to be the KPF we need, he’s just holding growing until after the draft so we can get him cheaperIf our first pick looks like going out from 14 to 17, surely we match any bid from 5 to 16?
Just because we don't necessarily have him as 6th, 7th, 8th or whatever... even if we have him as 15th we'll be getting a better player than the one we'd select at 17ish.
