Every chance we'll leave with 3 1st round selections (including Reef).
Still leaning towards that scenario rather than packaging up two picks to get inside the top 10 though one or two early 2nd round selections being included in any trade deal could persuade me otherwise.

Thats what makes it so yuck as much as anything - a small forward and Reef doesn't exactly excite me.

I'd really like us to get Cox, but position-wise, I'd be happy with a small forward and an inside mid. They're both positions of need for us.
Sounds reasonable. We are giving up a first to get a better first, and a future first to get two top 20 picks. The only risk is that 9 is not enough to land Reef.
I'm happy with any trade where we go up the draft order and dont give up 2020 picks to do it.
If we can get 9, 22, 23 for 16 and our future 1st take it and run. If Ess bid on Reef at 6-8 then we call their bluff and they can have him, there are other options available.

We might still take him there but the ball will be purely in our court knowing we that we still have three other live picks in the top 25. We won’t have a gun to our head, so if Essendon bid for him there they will need to be satisfied that they really want him.

Where is this discussion about Essendon bidding on Reef actually coming from? Don't give me the whole "Dodoro likes to play funny buggers," is there actually any legitimate speculation that that's what Essendon is planning?
I haven't seen much, if Essendon want him at one of their picks, then that is what he is worth, if we think that then we match. It would be nice to pick him up cheap but it's more important, this year especially to get this draft right.
I like the type of player Reef is, tall midfielder with some burst speed.
Cant see them being dumb enough to do it personally, what i can see the asshats doing is taking both Reid and cox
You would also think that if they are going to be complete "Asshats" , they would use the first selection with the highest points match in case we go that way.

From what I can gather it’s grown legs amongst the pessimists on the basis of Essendon having a cluster of picks. Personally I don’t see them playing funny buggers because they have their own NGA’s. I wouldn’t rule it out because I think McInness projects top 10, but it’s not based on much currently.
FWIW the Adelaide trade speculation is garbage. There’s no way they’re taking that deal when they’ve made it quite clear their aim is 5 top 40 picks in this draft.

Maybe posters don't like seeing him ranked in the 20's and are trying in their minds to boost his worth by pretending that Essendon might bid on him at 8.

They’d probably consider 9 and one of their low 20 picks, but very unlikely that they’d give both away.
Bombers are all over Reid Cox and Perkins. Why wouldn’t they be? It would be an amazing haul from them and every other club would be jealous. Suits all there needs to a tee. I’d be more worried about a bid coming from North or even GWS. Hence we should be looking to deal with them trade picks and ensure we get 2 picks in before Reef. I’d imagine Freo will go local talent as there seems to be plenty. Unless anyone has info regarding the players GWS and North are in to at those picks?

I've heard from a reliable source within the industry that Essendon were considering making a bid. But at the same time, Collingwood have basically said they're not committing to him so they're playing a game of chicken at the moment.
There's some belief Reef cops a bid before Lachie Jones, though most expect if it's not Essendon, it probably won't be before that pick. The only reason it has grown legs is that Essendon need a big-bodied inside mid, and after doing a podcast on the exact topic of 190+ midfielders, the only top 30 players who fit that bill are McInnes and Poulter effectively.
I reckon there's a way we could get 8, deal with Essendon with two of our picks, they could pick up Poulter at #14 or #16 (as not to have to use a Top 10 pick on him) and then we can take Reef with whatever our next pick is.
I mean Adrian Dodoro has subscribed to our Draft Guide so I'll just quickly start rubbishing Reef now
