Without any football being played it’s hard to justify a player moving that far up imo. They just don’t have the vision to go off. From rated late first to the second round it’s hard to see him moving to pick 5, when there’s probably better footballers at this stage, on the board.
I'm not saying all the way to 5 but somewhere before our first. It's not a normal year, just have a feeling that he has something that most recruiters would be looking for, he has height, can obviously play football and breakaway speed for taller mid is huge. I'm not saying he will go higher just a feeling, maybe a little skeptical after the trade period but he ticks a lot of boxes.

I hope I'm wrong and he slides.

Yeah fair. I think we’ll know pretty well where he’ll play a week before the draft but right now I think we should be ok. Also have to see what picks we do end up with if we get the chance to move up.

GWS are the team to watch in terms of pick trades:

They currently hold the following picks: 10, 13, 15, 20, 29, 52, 74, 88

Without knowing how many they've cut, they might only use a couple of picks in the draft. Depending on how they rate the respective drafts, they'll either be looking to move up in this draft or to get in future picks.

God that's terrible a draft like that would surely be career ending for Hine
Why? Because the players you want aren’t available for him to pick? You’re taking the piss yeah?

I think we can try and guess all we like but I’d be shocked if we have the same picks we have now, on draft night.
We know they will pick at least one tall because that has been the narrative for clearing the list and getting to the top-end of the draft. We might end up with the four picks, at least three. Could go 2/2 tall/small or 1/3.

Has that been the CFC narrative or the footy forum narrative? I can't recall any comments in that regard.

Ned Guy said it that the reason we wanted to get into the pointy end of the draft was because we rated the talls on offer.

Interesting. Was this after trade and b y pointy end, do you think he meant the real pointy end or do you think he was talking about our current range?

It was in the article farewelling Stephenson and Atu. If it wasn’t him it was Walsh. But there’s a quote in there saying about the talls. I was concerned because we had only got 26 as the highest and wondered what we were doing. Now they’ve traded higher they are in the ball park.

I'd probably favor Nik Cox at this point over Callow. I saw him at the combine. He can play forward. Might call him a swingman, right?

Cox fit more what we want then Callow

I think they’re still trying to decide whether to call him a KPP or a tall utility.

Can just see us doing a deal with GWS and then them bidding early on Reef just for the laughs

They were my thoughts to until I watched Perkins’ video and then checked his combine results. Twomey has him at 17, so definitely gettable if we want a mid/HFF goal kicker who has tricks and plays much taller than his 186cm.

But I would also be very happy if we picked up Ford - he also looks impressive.

188cm/79kg
26/3/02
Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
Midfielder/forward

Perkins put in a very impressive testing day recently at the Vic Metro Combine, running 2.92 seconds over the 20m sprint, coming third in the running vertical jump (92cm) and also completing the 2km time trial in 6:23 minutes in a very good run. Perkins is an exciting prototype: he busts through traffic, he has the power and explosive streak to step past opponents, he can play as a half-forward and be a goalkicking option. The Sandringham Dragon brings some exciting elements to the fore and has plays with confidence.

Has him at 10 now must of got wind of a club around the range thats keen.

I must say I do like the sound of that "write up". Hopefully we can get a KPP as well though.

Another Early Mock Draft:

Pick 17 – Collingwood – Brayden Cook
189cm, 82kg, SA

The Pies might be hoping for a tall at one of their selections and one might be available. If not, tall wingman/half-forward Cook might be someone they consider.

Pick 18 – Collingwood (matching bid) – Reef McInnes
192cm, 84kg, VIC

Having picks 14, 16 then 65, Collingwood are in an interesting position with NGA prospect McInnes. They’d like to get both picks in before a bid and then probably go into 2021 deficit for him, but there are no guarantees.

I have the Giants bidding on him here but it could be a close call. McInnes is a tall, athletic player who has been used all over the ground but will probably be developed as a midfielder.

Cox fit more what we want then Callow

Give me a specialist over an jack of all trades master of none any day.

We have enough "versatile" types. Get a KPF that specialises in teh role and kicks goals.

Unless he (Cox) can go back to eventually allow Moore fwd I'd go with Callow of the 2, bit risky due to injury history but imo a better chance to become a power fwd.
