So your a talent to the backline and role players up fwd kind of guy?

Not really. My thinking is that we may already have 2 defenders who can make the switch down forward (Kelly and Murphy). If we recruit 2 backs such as Cox, Chapman etc. they don't need to be rushed into the side and can undertake some good development before overtaking the likes of Howe and Roughead.

At the moment Kelly is probably behind both Moore and Roughead as a back and Murphy is probably behind Moore and Howe.

If we can recruit a replacement for Madgen ie Chapman that would be ideal.

That's my read, anyway.

Don’t know if this has been posted but I just saw a phantom draft where the pies traded our future first to get Norths pick 11 which at that stage was pick 14. Then drafted Reef at pick 14. We then used our original pick 14 on Cox who slipped to 19 and Powell at 21. Thoughts? Never thought about the option of trading up to get Reef. Everyone else is thinking to get picks in before his bid.

Was Ned Guy picking for Collingwood in this phantom draft?

It would be a dumb move to trade up to an earlier pick in the first round just to use it directly on Reef if we're not matching a bid there.

There is literally no reason for us to even consider doing this when we could draft someone else with that pick 14 and still get Reef later anyway.

And if he was bid on, you'd match it first and then do the trade, so you'd be moving up a few spots. Definitely Ned Guy involved in this phantom.

Tips on further delistings or are we done? My thoughts, not sure if contracted though

Wills
Appleby
Lynch
Beams

I would delist them all because even if they survive next year they won't be there the year after, I would rather get some development into a few kids. I would pick up O McDonald and Rowe as free agents and put 2 extra kids on the list

Lynch, 1 year, and Beams, 2 years, are both contracted. Still no word on Beams payout and how it affects a list spot. <insert lame sarcasm about Ned Guy>

Yeah I see that as talent to defence and role players up fwd. Both Murphy and Kelly are unkowns whilst Kelly showed some very nice attack on the ball and a positive debut he didn't get to a lot of contests etc.

Personally Murphy needs games to see if he can even make the grade. Gets a lot of Hype on here.

Wills will definitely get another year - he's not exactly the most attacking midfielder you'll ever see, but he can still play a role at AFL level as an in and under mid who will get his hands dirty and, with our our midfield depth taking a significant hit in the trade period, we will probably need to keep him on the list as a "break glass in case of emergency" type, in case of injury or if some of the kids who we are anticipating might fill the void take a bit longer to step up than we are hoping.

He shouldnt get a year is not AFL standard and even as for "getting his hands dirty" he often trails his opponent in and is a very low possie winner. Doesn't do much with it when he gets it either.

Is the type we as a club hang onto for too long due to good guy and work ethic. Typical list clogger.

We need to stop clinging to these players who are so clearly not up to it just because they fit in a type of player personality that Bucks can handle

Some of the picks will disappear pre draft if clubs don’t have list spots to use their picks
99% chance that any picks clubs aren’t going to use will be traded before the draft. Would be negligent for clubs to not get value for them.

Sounds like the dumbest phantom in the history of phantoms to me.

There may not be any buyers willing to give up a future pick for picks in the 50s. We're one of the few clubs who might want them. I really don't know why we didn't manage to get a couple more thrown in to our fire sale deals, as they're worthless except for academy points.

Do you actually watch Wills play? He's about to turn 28 and he's complete garbage at everything except tackling when the ball is in the centre square. There would be two dozen mature mids in the 2nds competition who could do a better job and much younger too.

I agree. I'd cut him. The only thing in his favour is that if we get injuries to our senior mids, his physical attack will help protect the youngsters we'll have to surround him with, as we don't have any mature bodied second string mids.
