Yeah it's a weight off the back now. Haha, now for the big event, and then onto next year!
I can't remember the last time I was this anxious for the draft. Haha. We haven't been this active in the draft in a little while, apart from the standard 3 required players.

I don't think any Pies supporter would've ever been this anxious about a draft in the past.

The fact the whole thing is like a mini trade period, and the anxiety about someone bidding on Reef...

It's all mounting!

I am finding it a little hard to get excited for, just with the lack of football being played. I haven’t been drawn to as many players this year because of it. And that’s hard for me to say because usually It’s “the draft is better than Christmas” 😂

So are we taking 6 players or what's the story?

Hine would be licking his lips even if he has to use the picks in the 60s.

I'd love to get Chapman, especially with Langdon having retired.

Somehow we have to move up a bit to ensure we at least get one of chapman, reid or cox. Then if we can pick up Lord late it would be pretty decent.

From what I can gather it’s grown legs amongst the pessimists on the basis of Essendon having a cluster of picks. Personally I don’t see them playing funny buggers because they have their own NGA’s. I wouldn’t rule it out because I think McInness projects top 10, but it’s not based on much currently.

FWIW the Adelaide trade speculation is garbage. There’s no way they’re taking that deal when they’ve made it quite clear their aim is 5 top 40 picks in this draft.

I suspect that Essendon might have a go at Campbell with their first pick as he is in that pick range (no point them doing it later), but after that I reckon they'll take Perkins, Bruhn and a KPP (probably Reid). If one of the big 6 somehow slips down to them then Bruhn or the KPP will be switched out, depending on who slips.

No chance imo that they rate any of those three behind Reef, who is basically untried and untested as the inside mid he is projected to be, with his tank perhaps pointing to 2-3 years of development being required before his potential impact as a midfielder can be accurately assessed.

Thats true.

I've also invested too much focus and energy into reef, we need to get him lol I won't except anything less. Haha. The moment I saw him a year ago at pre-season training, I wanted him at this club.

Can someone with half a brain please explain this one to me?

Let's say that North Melbourne bid on Jamarra Ugle-Hagan. The value needed to match Pick 2 is 2014 points after discount.

Is it

A) Bulldogs use Picks 26, 33, 41, 42 (worth 2099) and, which leaves 85 points. They then get a pick slotted between Collingwood (pick 65, worth 90 points) and Brisbane (pick 66, worth 80 points)

or

B) They get 85 points added to their "next pick" which is 54. Pick 54 is worth 220 points. Add 85 points and it becomes 305 points, which places their next selection between Port Adelaide (pick 47, worth 316 points) and Sydney (pick 48, worth 302 points).

or C) Other?

It's option A), after matching the bid pick 42 will slide back to pick 66, and all picks from 66 onwards will be shuffled back one spot.

Apparently we have to take 6 players in the draft this year unless we stock up on DFA's. Does anyone know if that means we need to take some DFA's before the draft otherwise we will be forced to take 6 players, or can we say take 4 players in the draft then top up after it?

At the current point in time I don't think there is an opportunity to add new players to the senior list after the pre-season draft (that thing before the rookie draft that nobody really uses anymore).

This might change, but at this point in time we would be expected to add 6 senior-listed players via the second DFA period (Dec 1-2) or National / Pre-Season Drafts on December 9-10. The overwhelming lack of noise on any DFA signings makes me think we're not even looking at DFA's at this point in time (as most other clubs also appear not to be).

If I recall correctly the pre-season supplemental selection period (commencing Jan 6) only allows additional players to be added as rookies, but I'm not sure if anything has changed or may change on that front for this year.

i'm looking at deep diving into another potential draftee in my ongoing youtube series (already have done cox, callow, perkins and reid) who should i look into next?

"North Melbourne will also reportedly keep two spots on their list open following the draft in order to sign a player in the pre-season and mid-season signing periods".

Does this mean we wont be required to take 6 players on draft night?

I would have assumed that clubs have the option to add players to the primary rather than rookie list via the two signing periods above should that be required to meet a minimum number. If not I would then assume we could elevate any rookie currently on our list and replace them with new rookie additions during these periods.

Personally I have no interest in taking 6 players next week if our overwhelming motivation for adding a couple of those players isn't their potential but meeting some arbitrary number set by the AFL.
