If the AFL became aware of any handshake deal regarding a bid on Reef, wouldn’t that be considered draft tampering?I’d be pushing 14/16 to Adelaide for 9 and 23. Then I’d try to deal with GWS with our future first and pick 23 for pick 13, with a handshake that they don’t bid on Reef with 10. That would give us 2 picks before a bid. Getting 2 first round prospects, plus Reef, then trying to grab a couple of late bargains is the best case scenario imo.

The projection was made when he was 192cm at the end of last year. I don’t think a 1cm growth spurt (if you can even call that a growth spurt for a 17 year old) is going to change anyone’s projection of him.
I’m sure it’s just me, but Laurie’s highlights have me thinking Ben Ken for some reason...I hope if we end up with him that I’m wrong!

If you think those kind of deals haven’t happened already then you’re naive. If the AFL became aware of any handshake deal regarding a bid on Reef, wouldn’t that be considered draft tampering?
The midfield projection didn’t really start until mid year when he had those stints. That was when the hype began about what he could become and when noise started being made about him being a first round prospect. At the start of last year he was just a nice utility at that sort of tweener size. That assumes he's finished growing, not mid-spurt. The midfield projections were strong all last year and he started the year at 191 unless I'm mistaken, slotted into the role when others were off on VM duties.
We only got one of them through trade.
They'd have to throw in a 2nd rounder to balance it offNot sure if he mentioned it in his phantom or anywhere else but Twomey said Essendon want 14 and our Future First if they're going to part with their third selection (currently pick 8).
Yuck.
So it probably will happen.

A reasonable trade would be a straight swap. Pick 8 (pushed back 10 or 11) for our future first. Gives the dons a really strong hand to attack a trade or draft in ‘21. Dodo is dreaming is he wants two picks. Not sure if he mentioned it in his phantom or anywhere else but Twomey said Essendon want 14 and our Future First if they're going to part with their third selection (currently pick 8).

Yeah straight up 2021 1st for Pick 8 which like you said will become 10-11 is very fair trade.A reasonable trade would be a straight swap. Pick 8 (pushed back 10 or 11) for our future first. Would Crows then do 9 and 22/23 for 14 and 16?
Use 8 and 9 before Reef gets bid on and taken by us at 23, then hopefully jag a couple of gems late.
It won't be 8 by the time it gets used though it will be around 10-11. Every chance our 1st next year is inside the top 10.No one’s trading a top 10 pick straight up for a future 1st. Think of it this way if we had 8 currently and Carlton offered up a future 1st would you go for it? Hell no.
Agree that it is very unlikely to happen unless it's a club lkie North's future which youre pretty confidnet is going to be high, but in terms of on the night, it would depend how highly I rated the kid highest on my draft board and whether I thought next year's draft was strong enough that you'd get better next year from Carlton's pick. I'd be more willing than most AFL clubs seem to be to trade into future drafts, as i think with trades from the future into the current, you have to pay a pretty high tax to get a player immediately rather than waiting a year.No one’s trading a top 10 pick straight up for a future 1st. Think of it this way if we had 8 currently and Carlton offered up a future 1st would you go for it? Hell no.
