I couldnt care who we pick as ive got no idea about any of them just one or two over 190 cms please

Times have moved on a bit - the bar is probably 195cm+ now.

Having said that the Doggies have been trying to take football back to the era of 190cm ruckmen in more recent times, so maybe 190cm+ will be enough.

Hopes for tonight:

1. We land one of Zach Reid or Nik Cox, Cox the more likely of the two, either would be huge acquisitions.
2. Get two picks in BEFORE we take Reef.
3. 5 Picks inside or around top 40 like Dekka said.
4. A decent tall back, tall fwd and small pressure crumbing fwd.
With a priority on guys who are good users of the ball, particularly by foot.

If we missed on Reid & Cox wouldn't be averse to picking up both Baldwin & Callow later on if they're available. Hopefully at least one will make the grade.

Nothing wrong with being honest about it. A lot of the angst comes from players who don't say anything and end up struggling being away from home, family and friends for several years just as they're coming into adulthood.

Some young adults can handle or even embrace / be excited for such a change, others not so much and I don't blame anyone for getting the "go home" vibes. We as supporters only ever pay attention to the players in this situation who we want to keep and barely even give a second thought to the kids who wash out within 2-3 years of being drafted for essentially the same reason.

Barring any trades, especially given Hawthorns have interviewed Perkins 3 times. We could potentially slip to our pick. Would be a great result and an X factor forward is something we need given Stephensons exit.

Happy draft day everyone. Pies fans are more than ready for some positive outcomes and the draft is the perfect opportunity for that.

Dream scenario would be two top 20 picks + Reef. There was some talk from Matt Balmer suggesting its a possibility but I can't see GWS not bidding if we don't trade up. The more realistic outcome I'm hoping for is we get one pick in before a bid for Reef comes. We'll probably have to trade up to make that happen but I definitely reckon we should.

If you rate your club's talent identification then I don't think this is a bad draft to have multiple late picks in. With potentially less than 50 live selections there should be value to be had if you were tracking someone last year that other clubs hadn't put much time into yet. Personally I'm not paying much attention to who the phantom drafts have us picking up with those late picks just because I reckon we'll have a surprise or two up our sleeves there.

Sets an interesting precedent, particularly if he slides past a couple of interstate clubs and they comment that this is the reason why.

Going back a few years it could be called a form of draft tampering, but with the risks of mental health and duty of care on clubs, does the perspective of the AFL on this sort of comment change?

Since gws has bettered our offer to Adelaide for pick 9. Looks like our best option is to go for ease dons pick 8 for our 14-16. Are they allowed to trade future picks to give to us with 8?

Its an interesting precedent indeed. It definitely compromises the integrity of the draft. If it starts happening regularly it does open the door to clubs getting in the ear of draftees and putting them up to it.

But I honestly reckon its best for everyone if the kids are honest about it. That way clubs drafting prospects from interstate can make an informed decision about whether they want to accept the risk and back in their support networks. It also ensures that if those players are drafted interstate they getany tailored support they need straight away rather than just the standard interstate induction.

As they should as he is the best Prospect in the Draft
exactly. I feel like its your duty to bid, even if he won't go to you. If he is the best prospect. You bid. Hopefully a few more bids in the top 10 before any Reef Bid to push it down lol

Knightmare saying we will Pass on a Reef Bid by Adelaide

and Has us Getting Perkins and Stone with our 2 Late 1st Rounders

Some of these phantoms going around are oddly thought out. Like the one in the Herald Sun today for example...

They've got Essendon taking two players and then bidding on Jones from Port. If they wanted Jones, and wanted Port to not match, they would bid with their first pick.

Secondly, the Bombers traded with Port for Fantasia and as far as I can see, Essendon didn't get ripped off, so I'd be surprised if they bid.

I think Adelaide will be the side to bid on Jones, but that's not to say they won't then bid on McInnes straight afterwards.

I can definitely see Gold Coast being the side to bid on Campbell.

That's just one phantom example, there have been a few.
