Agree, actually. I have the Swans taking him.

I think they'd focus on a KPD as their highest priority.

I'm hopeful North bid on Campbell and force the Swannies to make a decision.

They won't call his bluff now that he's gone public like this though. It would just generate so much negative attention for the club and the player - which would only increase the likelihood of him heading back to Victoria at the first opportunity. I suspect that this is why he has come out with this and not just kept it behind closed doors like others have done in the past.

Sets an interesting precedent, particularly if he slides past a couple of interstate clubs and they comment that this is the reason why.

Going back a few years it could be called a form of draft tampering, but with the risks of mental health and duty of care on clubs, does the perspective of the AFL on this sort of comment change?

I'm not sure alerting interstate clubs he's an enormous flight risk is in any way tampering with the draft. They can still choose to take him.

The other aspect to Perkins being so public about his stance is that he's in a pretty privileged position. Most kids who nominate wouldn't dream of doing it for fear of it spoiling whatever chance they may have of making it.

As much as I think the majority of kids should (and do) suck it up and take whatever chance they get, I admire the balls Archie has to back himself so boldly. He knows he will struggle interstate and there's a level of self awareness there that most kids lack.

I like the honesty, you pick me but if you can’t convince me to stay in two years, there can’t really be any hard feelings in two years time.

That's it isn't it. Onus is on the club then to back their systems and culture and to make him want to stay. There are a couple of interstate clubs with really good young player cohorts where that'd work you'd think.

Read on Fox Footy we are not interested in Baldwin

I reckon we'd take him if he did a Jonty Scharenberg-like slide all the way down to nothingness.

We definitely wouldn't take the risk on him in the top 20 though I wouldn't think.

I could see GWS taking the punt. Or someone with nothing to lose ala Richmond.

I don't know about you blokes, but I'm personally looking forward to drafting the rising star, so that we can throw him away for nothing in two years 👍

If he decides not to do his weights program, **** around in the hub and piss in another players drink (amongst other things), then I'd expect the club to **** him right off as well.

Would this be draft tampering or just exploring a loophole? We trade 14 & 16 to the Roos for, say pick 9 & a future pick. GWS nominate Reef at 10 (which we match with our late picks). We then trade some of our 2021 1st, 2nd &/or 3rd to GWS for 13 &/or 15 & 20.
We get the Reef deal done early, allowing us a free run with some good early picks.

That would be an interesting strategic move from Hawthorn, possibly targeted at perhaps snaring Gulden later on.

This isn't outside the realms of possibility either, given that we know how much the Hawks love kids who are elite kicks and Campbell is rated by some (many?) as the best kick in the draft so the bid wouldn't be unreasonable.

It's definitely draft tampering and we wouldn't have anything close to enough points to match a bid on Reef at pick 10 anyway so the idea falls over in both ways.

As a Rookie Pick?

Perkins has done interstate clubs a favour especially GWS who I'm sure are sick of investing 1st round picks on players only for them to be traded out in 2 years time.

He can also decide not to play AFL football, looks like this little princess is more precious than most.

It won't deter interstate clubs one bit IMO, they back themselves in to provide a good envirionment.

He's eliminating himself from being picked by all interstate clubs. How is it not?

Next year we will have Victorian kids only wanting to play in Vic, SA in SA, WA in WA etc.
