Of the few who have been linked to us, Poutler would be my choice. He's different than what we already have being that tall midfielder, he is versatile, has good disposal and has a lot of scope for improvement.

Jack Carroll's draft profile reads well but there doesnt seem to be much vision of him around so hard to have an opinion on him. From reading some of Twomey's articles over the past week, I think we might be trying to trade down the order in front of Melbourne to get him.

O'Driscoll highlights look good but from hearing him interviewed, I get the feeling he is someone who would ask to go back to Perth in two years time. But I wouldnt be disappointed if we took him.

Some of the others - Berry, Trew, Pedlar - all seem far more inside rather than balanced mids so not that interested in them. And while Jake Bowey has some skill, we have a lot of that smaller type player already.

I know we haven't been linked to him at all, but Ford is my favourite and who I really want us to take. Not only are is highlights greats and it looks like he has talent to burn, but his interview on SEN last week made him come across as the most likeable character and someone who is pretty determined to get the best out of themselves.
Yeah I think I like Poulter looks best of the ones likely to be available at our pick, although a friend of mine from East Freo could not speak anymore highly of Carroll which has me leaning towards him.

McCrae would be great, but we will likely miss him by a few picks I'd say.

That is an insane name!

Who the hell calls their son Malarchy? I hope they are proper felt-wearing aristocratic English eccentrics who still go on safari every year to "Darkest Africa". I'm praying he wears a monacle and a moustache that makes Jordan Gallucci's look like Hitler's.
i'd say Caruthers IS more than likely a Scottish surname...Malarchy being more than likely Irish in origin...either would be mortally offended by any connection to the English ..aristocrat or not. lol

where are they?

and didn't they start only back yesterday?
Sorry, I was referring to the coaching/management team not the players.
The former have been putting in some long days over the last week or so judging by the coffee purchases, dress code and early morning sunlight.

thanks for replying.

I hope they had holidays

Twomey confirming again that we are trying to move down the draft order.

Not sure how we would do it considering how little we have to work with but something to keep an eye on.
I'm assuming you mean up the order??

We have a little bit to work with.
A future 1st swap, 2x eventual 3rd rounds this year, a future 3rd and 2x future 4ths. Our problem will be that we're a threat for top 4 so no bastard wants to swap for our first.

I'd suggest Cal's mail is slightly off.
We'd be trying to elevate our 1st and/or 2nd picks, knowing that there is waaaayyy more scope on the 2nd.

If we threw a lot of late picks to anyone with an academy player, could we give them a net points gain and stop them spilling into next year?

Malarchy and Levi are popular names in the Latter Day Saints community.

I'll throw up if Richmond take Finlay Macrae with our original pick

I am more interested in whom Adelaide will take with their No 2 compensation pick.

Sorry just got told they didn't get that, surely they matched and made the Saints give up at least this years first and next years second. Pretty good trading Crows.

Whats that you say? They got pick 23 (which is about pick 30 after Academy and FS) and didn't match the Saints.

Hmm canny poker players them Crows.

this draft countdown show is absolutely horrendous. its like 3 high school kids managed to get a live stream on the AFL website, except it's not high school kids, its a bunch of guys well into their 20s.

Yep, meant move up. Improve our first round pick.

With so few picks being taken this year, I doubt there would be much interest in our two later ones this year.

If someone is interested in some extra picks for next year, then our first and a 3rd next year to move up a few in this first round. Someone like Richmond or Melbourne could be interested with talk they would be fine moving later in this draft.

Your picture of Mrs Crossley is just Killing me here.
I find myself staring at her for 30 seconds, then think I should look up her interview again .😀

only concern over poulter is that i feel he might have a bit of the acres. a guy who can't cut it inside and can't really find a spot on the outside.
Did Acres spend much time forward in the U18s?

Poulter's profile reads like he can at least play forward and score so if he doesnt develop as an inside mid, he should at least be able to impact on the outside and up forward. Whereas, it always seemed like Acres was lost in the forward line.

The later picks are only worth points for an academy kid, but the future 3rd will let a club shift some equity into next year.
If you see this trade, GC have given pick 27 to Geelong for a future 3rd attached top Melbourne.

That's a good deal for the Cats who've got something around 33 for something as late as 50 next year.

yeah he did, he actually played quite a bit on a forward flank
