New mock draft from eDPS.
I think the non Vic teams have been playing so that would reflect in their ratings v the Vic boys.
Notable is the continued rise of Caleb Poulter,
and a return to the fold for my boy Archie Perkins!!
eDPS has improved the format here to show bids on academy players, and extended the first round to suit.
Great stuff...

So before the next draft I think we would lose the following , my guess anyway lol. Not sure when their contracts are up which may or may not change things . Also things can change , for example if Sinclair gets back into the team and plays like the player he could be , afterall remember how close Lonie was to getting delisted a couple years ago .

Ryder
Sinclair
Joyce
Brown
Langlands
DMac
Phillips
Savage

Not saying all of those will be delisted but it might be out of those guys . Savage would be unlucky but a bunch of young guys have jumped in front of him . Not sure if Ryder was going to play one or two years so he might play on .

Not sure with Langlands , it’s hard with players not having the vfl playing time , practice games are handy but they might not have any other ones this season due to the virus .
Will be interesting to see what the clubs attitude to both Webster and Robbo will be at the end of the season if they don’t get back into the seniors that year.

Anyway we could easily have 4 to 5 picks at the draft .
Ironically our improved form and the poor form of others means we won’t have any early picks . Don’t see any of our castoffs being wanted by any other clubs .

We have a first rounder and 2 4ths.
It makes no sense to take another 2 after that.

Great! If we stay in that position & judging by the chart below we will be in a perfect position to take either Lachlan Jones or Zach Reid, we need defenders. 🥴🥴🥴 (facepalms as he walks back out the door)
I'll be surprised if we finish with pick 13, but there are plenty of midfielders to choose from no matter where we finish.

Surprised to see McCrae and Berry going so late. I'd be happy with either from what I've read.

Sliding from where they were predicted to go at the start of the year.

Agree with you on that. Not a bad year to trade out IF you can get a quality player.

Also a year where you can possibly find gold with your 4th rounder.

I think we have to use this years first round pick. Will have to trade out next years picks for players. We only have a first and a fourth or something. Players are tracked from around 14 years old. This year will remove the Bont like players who develop in their last year but it’s not going to change a lot. Sometimes it can be good sometimes bad. Hugh Goddard was talked up as a number one pick the year previous to the draft. Others have a less spectacular final year like Hunter Clark and drift out a bit.
It will be interesting to see how it effects player development more than anything. Kids have had a year of development ripped out.

No I don't think we do. Plenty of sides have gone 2 years without a first rounder.

I think the rule is you have to use 2 in 4 years?

We've used 3 in the last 3 years

Agree players are tracked for a long time, but the predicted draft order changes immensely from the start of the draft year to the end.

Just becomes much more of a gamble than anything. Could be a win, could go the other way.

After Hill's form so far ,i'm not over the moon about pissing away all our first rounders.
There's also plenty of examples when clubs have given up firsts and had great outcomes.

Also plenty of examples we've had of pissing away draft picks on draftees.

I'd be more than happy to hand it over for the right deal. A midfielder with 10 to 12 years of footy ahead of them.

Cal Twomey's latest form guide is out

Presuming we have a pick between 9-12, there isnt many midfielders ranked in those spots that aren't already linked to another club. Seems like key position players dominate the first round. Wouldn't be surprised if we trade out of the first round this year - maybe try spilting the pick for 2 later ones?

Available midfielders around our pick will include

6 - Tanner Bruhn - 182cm/73kg - Geelong Falcons
Bruhn is one of the leading midfielders available in this year's crop. He is light-bodied but is a brilliant user of the ball on both sides of his body and has the composure of few others in the 2020 group. This year's draft isn't jam-packed with premium midfielders in the early stages but Bruhn, who impressed when he trained at Geelong over summer, is certainly one of the best out there.

9 - Will Phillips - 180cm/79kg - Oakleigh
The only silver lining of this year for Phillips has been the extra time he has had to get his body right after some niggling injuries. Clubs know what they will get with Phillips: a tough, inside midfielder who competes, finds the footy and can also drift forward and contribute there. He's considered a leader within his teams and last year impressed in Oakleigh's NAB League premiership. In a season of uncertainty around some prospects, recruiters know what Phillips provides.

12 - Finlay Macrae - 184cm - Oakleigh
The younger brother of Bulldogs star Jackson, Macrae would likely have been a high possession winner this season around the ball for the Oakleigh Chargers and Vic Metro. Macrae is like his older brother in that he can find the footy: he averaged 17 disposals for the Chargers playing some forward line time last year, including 22 touches and two goals in the preliminary final. A nice kick on both feet.

14 - Archie Perkins - 186cm/77kg - Sandy
Perkins would likely have generated some buzz this season had things gone ahead for Victorian prospects. He produces some eye-catching plays: as a midfielder he can burst through the middle of the ground and past opponents, and when forward he also has some craft to make him a dangerous goalkicker. He's tough and powerful and has the knack of stepping up in games.

18 - Jack Carroll - 188cm/79kg - East Freo
Carroll was best afield for East Fremantle's colts side on the weekend with 31 disposals and two goals in his best game of a consistent season. He is a nice size but can also effectively move through traffic without appearing too rushed, and the midfielder is a good decision-maker who always looks pretty composed when he has the ball. He has his fans as a first-round selection.

19 - Nathan O'Driscoll - 187cm/76kg - Perth
After a scratchier start to the WAFL season restart, O'Driscoll worked his way into Perth's reserves side then its League line-up two weeks ago, where he impressed on the weekend with 20 disposals. O'Driscoll is a bigger bodied midfielder who enjoys the cut and thrust of the contest. He featured for Western Australia during last year's winning run in the under-18 championships.

Phillips and McCrae both fall in that range and would suit us well.

I think it's unlikely we still have that pick though.

I would pretty happily have some of those guys to be honest. There are a heap of solid mids this year around our pick. The hard part is having none or not a lot of recent form to work off for a lot of kids.

If we were to use our first pick in the draft for a promising mid , then get Crouch as a FA to tide us over until the younger guys can play consistently, i think that would be fine.
