Hind and 77, for 67 and 74. Bullshit trade.
What do you think he is worth then , maybe we did the trade in good faith for Hind as he isnt going to get a game with us anymore

WAFL viewers...

Sam Fisher worth a crack? the name alone makes him pretty enticing haha.

If we also see Frawley as our back up KPD with McKernan as our back up KPF, might it be worth considering Corey Gault to be a back-up ruckman?

Corey Gault round 6 2016. 6 Hitouts 4 disposals. Ryan Abbott round round 5 2020 2 hitouts 3 disposals. Blake Acres round 3 2019. 5 hitouts , 8 disposals. Josh Bruce round 13 2020 5 hitouts 5 disposals.

That's a no.

Not sure what you're talking about with Gault's numbers?

In the WAFL he was averaging 20 possies and 30 hitouts. Won the Swan District's B&F over the Sandover medalist. 200cm tall, 100kg, dominate state level ruckman who also finds the footy all over the field.

I just find it ridiculous that it was apparently a bogged down trade, with the Saints holding out for something better, and they swap picks in the 70s. Seriously why bother?

Sorry was meant to say 2016.
Unless he's improved a hell of a lot since then, he will remain a good WAFL ruckman.
194cm Delahunty was the best ruck in the WAFL in 2019.

With our one decent pick, i hope we go best available.
Fin Macrae.
Poulter
Ford
Cook
Trew

With our couple of late picks, take a couple of likely looking talls maybe .

I have all of those guys on my want list.

Interesting name in there Gault. Probably no relation but there can’t be too many Gaults.

He was pretty bad at Collingwood.
If we had both Marshall and Ryder injured we would probably be better with.
Howard rucking and Battle , Marsh or Joyce playing back.
Hell, Joyce would probably get more of the ball than Gault did when he played AFL if HE rucked.

We saw with Abbott that if you play a ruck who isn't up to it, you are essentially just a player down.

Howard actually rucked a couple of games for Port in 2018.

There looks to be 10-12 picks in the second and 3rd rounds gonna get sucked up by NGAs.
However there's also a similar number of bids expected, so the net effect will be about neutral on our picks 64 & 67.

With pundits suggesting only about 50 kids to be taken, and us being unable to shift out surplus players, it's very possible we only take the one pick in the national draft, then two rookies, one of whom might be Frawley.

Our FRDP will push out to at least 25, the highest pick we'll have for 3 drafts outside of a single pick 4 for King in 2018. FMD

In that time we've still landed Bytel, Wilkie, Marsh, Byrnes and Connolly which is a reasonable haul.

In Libba we trust.

Great numbers. Only question mark is his age.

He would be our depth ruck in 2021. Say he takes Ryder's spot in 2022. Means he is coming in as a 30yo, state level ruck, in a team looking to smash into the top 4 and win a flag.

If Melbourne stink again next year I'd throw some silly money at Gawn but I don't think he is the kind of guy to walk out on a club.

One of Soldo or Nankervis could be available.

Otherwise Marshall is the #1 ruck and we play both Kings in the forwardline ;)

Wilkie looks the only one set in the best 22 so far. It's a bit of a concern that we have stepped out of so many drafts. We were lucky that so many of the speculative retreads were so good. Butler, Ryder and Jones were all in our best 10 players. If Hill had been the one that lost us so many picks and played as poorly as he did it would have been a pretty disastrous outcome. Playing finals papers over everything too.

There are good kids in that range where our pick sits, I think we should get access to some good talent still, Shame we couldn't keep 17 though, it will give us the scraps more than the main course, at least this draft will have a bit more lottery to it. I wish we had a another pick for Bowey.

I guess you need to bring in about 3 afl quality players per year to maintain a thriving list, and we did that with Wilkie, King and Bytel.

We've managed to do that pretty well post 2014, but that hole in the list courtesy of the Pelican and Trout was only just fixed from last year's trading.

Parker, Young and Hind have all bombed out but served their purpose for the time.
Hanners and Kent that year too, so we got 5 out of 8, then followed up Hill, Doogs, Butts, Jones, Ryder and Byrnes who I'll give a tick to for now.
It's been a staggeringly rapid growth period since Lethers began.

Although it might feel like we've neglected the draft lately you can't argue with the list demographics, and we are a very young side.

When you consider that we'll be losing mostly the older guys over the next 1-2 years, and we look close to having our core 22 established, our youthful average will stay fairly robust as we return to the draft in the next few years.

Having gutted our future picks for a couple of years, we're beginning to claw it back now. With Crouch, Jiggins, and P21 we'll have our 3 for this year and whatever list spots remaining is effectively play money, and we've still got Clav and Connolly in the bank.

I would think Gags will try and cash in our 3x 4th picks on a 3rd rounder or something. Your boy Bowey won't likely go before the 3rd.

So our draft hand ends up being:

21
64
67
74

Those last three picks will come in a bit with all the academy crap, maybe as many as 10 picks. So they could be in the 50s.

Worth noting then that we might have 600+ draft points, which is about the value of pick 30. So if there's a bid in the 30s then we might look to live trade that pick in exchange for those three picks, giving us one in the 20s and one in the 30s. Not guaranteed but possible.

Hopefully if this is true, then I hope if this bloke is still around we have a look at Jackson Callow a powerful key forward who is not afraid to throw his weight around.
If he comes on, play him closer to goal with Winx up the ground, time we got another Plugger/G-Train

We'll use the last for Wilkie's upgrade: surely have plenty of options to sell the others off in a package to slide up the draft, either with the first round pick or alone for an extra 3rd rd pick.
With senior lists of 38 + up to 6 rookies we may be best leaving Wilkie on the rookie list for another year? I think he has one more year he can do there.
I wonder whether the likes of Phillips, Clav and/or Savage may be delisted and redrafted onto the rookie list to keep senior depth but get the better youth in the draft?
That would enable us to use #21, 64, 67 and 74. Or senior list Frawley instead of 74.

Callow will likely be gone but one grab mark same weight as Jack Darling but 3cm taller and may grow more

Would be a great get

I think we have a lot of contracts finishing next year and the combination of that, list reductions and unsuccessful 2020 draftees coming back as over-agers in 2021 makes next year the year to swoop with a bunch of later picks.

This year's rookie draft will effectively act as the 4th and 5th rounds, and although numbers aren't yet clear the single year contract is probably very appealing to the club to have a look at some speculative picks, particularly for the VIC kids.

If we can get Wilkie, Marsh, McKernan and Chips on the main list, the last 3 on 1 year deals, it'll give Gags a huge amount of power to churn our list in 2021.

Hopefully we can trade our junk picks for something useful like a future 3rd or 4th and make an effort to really attack the 2021 draft.

Off the top of my head l think almost every fringe Saints player will be OOC next year (except Dmac, Jweb), and our core guys are signed to 2022.
Makes me think they're planning something huge in 2021.

So we are potentially looking for a mature age option who can still develop their game and fill a spot in the coming years?

A lot of AFL level defenders started out by being drafted as forwards. I think this kid could follow that path and replace Snake in a couple of years.
