So the club is targeting a tall.
For our early pick is there anyone else in the running apart from Jackson Callow or maybe Nick Cox or Matt Allison.
Or do we wait until our later picks and see who is left , Maybe someone like Henry Walsh.
Seems there are plenty of mids or small forwards around at our first pick who are probably safer prospects.

Is there anyway we can appeal to the AFL to claim Brett Bowey's son as a father and son? Brett played 80 games for Saints so is not that far short. The AFL haave supposed to have been looking at the rules to reduce the number of games required for a while now.

Hes a lightweight small forward. Not exactly filling a need

You don’t target tall forwards with a pick in the 20’s. Surely we’re just putting that out there to throw teams off from what we’re really looking for.

Some developing talls look like our biggest need right now so I would be surprised if he were lying here.

Clubs: Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro

Position: Ruck

Size: 203cm/94kg

Teams that may suit: Hawthorn, GWS Giants, Sydney

Bio: The Victorian looms as one of the better ruck prospects despite being one of the little known prospects ahead of the draft. Heath had some eye-catching moments over the pre-season, with 2020 set to be a big year for the tall. But unfortunately clubs weren’t able to see as much as they had hoped of the competitive beast. He is willing to tackle hard to win the ball back and is able to be a marking target close to goal. His endurance is a work in progress but he is the perfect player who can develop in an elite program.

Max Heath looks like a very good prospect and would suit our needs very well. Some time for him to develop under Ryder and no rush to get him in because of Marshall. Being a local kid probably appeals to our recruiters too.

I reckon our first pick would be too early for him but our next pick might be too late.

Developing talls are a waste of time. How many have we gone through during this rebuild alone. Trade proven ones in.

How many?

Paddy. Goddard

any others?
We got stupid ready made ones, like Lee and Maister.

Light on for KPF talent.

Still think this is the guy we should target, going on Davo-27’s Draft Watcher thread last night, his agility testing of 8.45 is a lot better than past champions including Nick Riewoldts & Buddy Franklins.
This is from Kevin Sheehans write up ....

Seeing that a few supporters would have liked to take Mihocek off Collingwoods hands, then maybe this is the one.

His highlights make him look like a very good player. Clav looks a bit of a way off to me if at all.
To be fair to Clav , when was the last time you saw him play , 12 months ago ? or more

I agree. We have tried a few.

Im not sure why some are saying we should draft a young ruck when we just put a year , well not your normal year into a talented kid and then dropped him of the list so we can draft another kid at the same stage

Maybe there is a ruck young in this draft who is a better prospect and well ahead of where Bell was.

Have to ask those who spent a year training him.

We might have a chance for him with our first.

If you take the club on it's word then Max Heath fits the bill.
If you wrote a bio for Roma it would read basically the same as this guy, and to be mooted for the first half of the second round is up there for a ruckman.

Being at 94kg already is a huge benefit and fast tracks him into the seniors.

You only have to look at Draper to see how well a youngster can go if he's super competitive, and we had a real hard crack at him last year, so it's obviously very much on the clubs radar.

With our young team and plethora of depth, anyone we take is gonna be back of the queue for a few years, so it makes sense to invest now.

Maybe just me but all i see is a stronger bigger kid beating smaller lighter opponents , way too much Paddy about him for me

Winx, Battle, Marshall go ok for blokes we drafted.

Paddy & Hugh? Both shocking luck with injuries... who else has been a write off?

A young ruckman drafted as a rookie & then delisted surely doesn’t mean you don’t consider taking another young ruckman 12 months later who is more highly rated?
