ST KILDA
Picks: 21, 64, 67, 74, 92, 106 (likely to use two selections)

St Kilda is seeing if it can edge up the order with its first-round pick, but it doesn't have many chips to make a move happen. Wherever it lands, it is likely the Saints only use one more selection for the draft after their pick at the end of the first round. That will come right at the back end of proceedings, although No.64 is likely to push in multiple positions after bids are matched in the fluid draft order. It is a long way back at that stage of the draft, but Malachy Carruthers will come into clubs' thoughts in the latter stages and would present St Kilda with a skilful kicker out of the backline. Subiaco's Nick Martin, a medium goalkicker, could also be around that stage of the draft.

Malarchy Caruthers is an outstanding name. It sounds like it's straight out of Austinn's Nintendo names from the 90s list. Up there with Bobson Dugnut.

NATHAN O'DRISCOLL
POS: Midfielder
Ht 187cm, Wt 78kg, DOB 17/5/02
From Perth/Western Australia

O'Driscoll has risen through every level he's played, making clubs confident they know what type of player they'll be getting if they select him. He was an All Australian at under-16s level and last year played a critical role in WA's championship team at the under-18 carnival in the midfield. He played for Perth's senior side late in the year and has tested terrifically well for speed (2.93 seconds), agility (8.12 seconds) and 2km time trial (6:23 minutes). O'Driscoll is a competitive player who works himself into the ground.

If not him? The Saints have an interest in WA midfielder Jack Carroll, while Zane Trew could also be contention around this mark. Running option Caleb Poulter may also appeal, along with inside brute Luke Pedlar. Jake Bowey is another in the Saints' range.
Dunno how much stock I can put in a Phantom that sees McDonald slide to 5.

Luckily Carlton gave away pick 8, you just know they'd jump early.

I want a player with midfield scope that adds a POD. Poulter. Carroll. Ford. I could live with O'Driscoll also as he sounds like an inside bull with solid speed and agility testing, but less of a freak show like the others.

Scope - Ford > Poulter > Carroll > O'Driscoll
Performance - Carroll > O'Driscoll > Poulter > Ford

Given Twomey's phantom and the fact we're going best available, any chance Cook(14), Laurie(18), Macrae(20) or Carroll(21) may be available?

I'm all aboard the Poulter train. Reckon he's the real deal. I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment, no one me has us taking him, I think the SA thing and his light frame will scare us off. But I will be vindicated eventually when the guy we do take proves to be very much a vanilla downgrade of Caleb as an established AFL player for Adelaide.

That is an insane name!

Who the hell calls their son Malarchy? I hope they are proper felt-wearing aristocratic English eccentrics who still go on safari every year to "Darkest Africa". I'm praying he wears a monacle and a moustache that makes Jordan Gallucci's look like Hitler's.

Early start by the football team this morning I see.
Been the same for the last ten days.
Either the cafe is shut at RSEA before 7:00am, or the coffee is lousy.

Of the few who have been linked to us, Poutler would be my choice. He's different than what we already have being that tall midfielder, he is versatile, has good disposal and has a lot of scope for improvement.

Jack Carroll's draft profile reads well but there doesnt seem to be much vision of him around so hard to have an opinion on him. From reading some of Twomey's articles over the past week, I think we might be trying to trade down the order in front of Melbourne to get him.

O'Driscoll highlights look good but from hearing him interviewed, I get the feeling he is someone who would ask to go back to Perth in two years time. But I wouldnt be disappointed if we took him.

Some of the others - Berry, Trew, Pedlar - all seem far more inside rather than balanced mids so not that interested in them. And while Jake Bowey has some skill, we have a lot of that smaller type player already.

I know we haven't been linked to him at all, but Ford is my favourite and who I really want us to take. Not only are is highlights greats and it looks like he has talent to burn, but his interview on SEN last week made him come across as the most likeable character and someone who is pretty determined to get the best out of themselves.

Ford for me also, followed by the two WA boys. The dream would be Finlay Macrae, even if we have to trade up. Could also live with Poulter and Bowey. Agree with the no interest for pure inside mids.

Definitely. Two or three of the clubs before us could dissolve into bankruptcy before the draft, and a couple of the recruiting managers for those who survive might take a bunch of magic mushrooms with their breakfast.

I put my source to work and he told me Eddie Ford is defiantly on the list that we are looking at so take no notice of the media bullshit as most would have no clue , and i got that news no more than 5 mins ago

Well, the club would have the list of their choices of best players and will mark them off as they go.

When it is our turn we will call out next on the list because apart from a key back in a year or two, where are our current gaping holes?

Backs

Doogs, Wilks, Snake, Gears, Coff, Paton, Long with key man backup in Frawley, untried Clav, and the might D-Train. A solid defensive unit. Looking for a Key forward soon.

Rucks
Marshall, Paddy, McKernan as backup. Looking for a ruckman going forward

Mids
Hanners, Steele, Seb, Crouch, Hill, Billings, Clark, Jones, Sinclair. Hill and Billings on the wings. Dunstan Bytel, Byrnes as backup, development. Fairly solid with some talent coming through.

Forwards
King, Butler, Higgins, Lonie, Kent, Battle. Pretty young forward line with tonnes of improvement. Add to the forwards the mids and wingers who will swing through there.

As I said can't see a glaring hole, and apart from King, can't (yet) see any out and out superstars

Going to stick with tall forward Jackson Callow for our first round pick & for a late left field pick, tall back man Sam Wundke, with a year training beside Carlisle & Frawley could slot in nicely.
SANFL 2020 team of the year CHB plus a St Kilda supporter to boot.
