Sure is a different year this year Max Holmes hasn't played more than 2 or 3 games since 2018 yet is now a top 25 pick. He had huge wraps on him at Melbourne Grammar but I never got to see him play would be a huge gamble to use our first round pick. Was hoping he would be available at our later picks.

O'Driscoll seems like a safe if uninspiring pick would rather Sam Berry if we are going mid think he has a few more points of difference power and marking ability is the kind of player supporters would love expect he would be rated higher if he had played this year. Tom Powell will likely be gone but anyone who averages 33 possessions a game is worth considering. Carrol sounds decent too but again likely gone before our pick as will Macrae who looks a lot like his brother. Not keen on Trew.

Poulter to me looks like an Acres type will tease you with what he could be but is not really a midfielder also sounds like a flight risk

Ford may have the same risk as Poulter but I think he at least becomes a forward who is different to what we have and the upside is big if he can be a mid

Bowey seems like he can play might be a stretch at first round and gone by our later picks not fussed on height seems to have the pace and spring to overcome this.

Leave the ruckmen for the late pick or rookie

My dream pick would be somehow trading up and nabbing Nik Cox but that won't happen so my realistic preference is Berry or Ford.

Chances are none of the above are selected by us and I have confidence in the team who ever they pick. Will be interesting to see if Rath has influenced our recruiters was big on kicking skills when at Hawthorn and that shaped their premiership lists hopefully we are recruiting with our game plan in mind maybe we will get a guide on what is considered important now when we see who we select.

Anywhere from 15-30 depending on how much a team wants him, I think.

Hard to tell with no exposed form, but as they say in the NFL, the “traits” are very exciting.
I have never seen him play but Geez thats a low pick , some were saying Rookie , its a damn lottery this year

pretty good post

odriscoll seems very vanilla, what worries me with him is he hadn't really performed when playing seniors in the WAFL, which tells me he is pretty far off it and might not cut it at AFL. typically the good prospects out here tend to atleast find their feet in the WAFL seniors.

having said that Berry by all accounts is more a medium forward rather than mid. a tad undersized given where the game is going in the midfield. so odriscoll has more runs on the board in terms of midfield and his attributes. that doesn't mean i'm saying odriscoll is the better prospect, just some thoughts on the two.

agree 100% on poulter. i think out of the three he's the 3rd preference. also agree that ford probably has more upside than poulter.

He could be a Rookie... who knows at this point.

If we did end up taking Max Holmes, it is a pretty cool story about him running into Hill at the local park, exchanging details, training together and then getting drafted to the same club as him.

He's a massive Saints fan too.

the way i look at it is Berry would be a Kent type. someone we can play on the forward flank who can push up into the midfield. where he can use his endurance and defencive pressure. i don't think he will transition to be an AFL mid. but that's my uneducated opinion.

you'd hope he could transition into spending time in the midfield similar to a De Goey but i think that might be unlikely.

Odriscoll is inside mid or bust IMO he either cuts it in there or he's in trouble. i don't think he will make it as a defender or forward and i don't think he can be a winger.

Poulter is a utility type probably how we use battle, but i don't think poulter will cut it as a defender or forward unlike battle who had shown he can play as a forward

Ford is a genuine forward probably see him a bit like Battle with his X factor. i think the hope would be he could potentially play on the wing. not sure if he could transition to being an inside mid.

Lots of names put up here, but recent experience, other than with very low picks, has been the club picking blokes that no one has mentioned in pre-draft discussions.

Wouldn't be surprised if that continues

I think i still have a thing for Ford , he could be special

He was good in the under 17s All Stars game too. That is a really good form line as a general rule. Bowey was good too, I have a bit of a romantic attachment to him playing for us but he's a player as well but Ford and Campbell from the Sydney academy really started that game with a bang.

tbh we do have a need for another winger

finalised their draft rankings on friday and signed off on them with their list committee. it could explain the leaks about them going to bid on ugle.
There was talk about them bidding on him weeks ago ,

Ok see what you mean now. Not being a smartarse but wouldn't all recruiting team have their board locked in a time ago?

Listening to Lethlean the other day, he was saying we have our players listed and will go down it until it's our turn. Basically saying best pick available.

As for bidding on Ugle. Where is the downside for Adelaide. Bulldogs don't match, they get a Max King type, Bulldogs match, they get the pick they had next and Bulldogs pay up big.

Only loser will be their No.1 if they bid as the no.1 selection gets 10k from the NAB and 10k from the AFL.

And if he pretty raw as a player, then having experienced outside mids like Hill and Hanners is learn off would be great for him. Plus, means there is no rush to bring him in since we have experience in that role now but would allow us to develop him for a few years first.
