Competitions 2020 e-AFL Season Round 11 vs North - Help pick the Demons team

Hello MFC Faithful.

With the unfortunate but necessary postponement of the AFL season for at least 60 days, it's been decided that we will run a simulated AFL season using the Qooty program created by the legendary Mobbs.

If you are familiar with the Sweet FA, which has had a few Tour games around the place, then you will know what this program is. If not, then please have a Proper Gander at the thread posted on the main board by SFA league Admin Ant Bear:

As a tl;dr, Qooty is a completely random football simulator. What we are going to do is use real player names and simulate the 17 round AFL season.

Each week there will be 2 rounds, complete with match threads for banter against opposition fans. At this stage it seems these threads will just be in the main board but that may change.

At the end, there will be a Brownlow Medallist and Coleman Medallist as well as a Norm Smith medallist.

Headless volunteered to be the coach of the Melbourne side but got himself fired before the season began so they had to head hunt me. My resume? Alot of you will know me from this board, but I am also a superstar SFA player taking up a spot in the midfield of the Coney Island Warriors, I was recruited from the Bay 13 bush league after earning a top 5 spot in poster of the year. As you can see I am a much better candidate than Headless and promise to lead the Melbourne Demons to a simulated random premiership.

Unlike the current coaching staff I will take criticism and feedback from the fans and I will be looking to you all to help me out with what changes we think need to be made or should be made.

For round 1 we will just use the named teams (minus two from the bench, as Qooty only needs 20 players).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Let's try and bring some of the excitement that footy would normally bring in this troubling time.

Thanks for coaching Harry. Are you as good as Simon Goodwin?

Who we playing in the first round Harry?

Melbourne's first e-AFL game is against the Sydney Swans, at this stage it will be posted on Sunday

A very tight contest where Melbourne and Sydney would take turns dominating play until, 4 goals down midway through the third, Melbourne scored 9.10 to 3.1 for the rest of the game coming out 21-point victors. The e-426 votes would be interesting to see, but since this all fun and games instead of real-life sheep stations, I'd put the points down as 10 - T. McDonald for the 9.6 he scored, 9 - C. Petracca for the 20 kicks and 11 tackles, 8 - J. Viney for the 15 kicks and 11 marks, 7 - J. Lever with the 16 kicks and 10 handballs and 6 - E. Langdon for the 6 marks, 3 tackles and 2 frees he got.

My idea for the Round 2 game against Gold Coast looks like this:

B: Neville Jetta - Steven May - Marty Hore

HB: Michael Hibberd - Jake Lever - Christian Salem

C: Ed Langdon - Jack Viney - James Harmes

HF: Christian Petracca - Jake Melksham - Bayley Fritsch

F: Kysaiah Pickett - Tom McDonald - Aaron vandenBerg

Foll: Max Gawn - Clayton Oliver - Angus Brayshaw

INT: Adam Tomlinson - Nathan Jones
If there's anything wrong with that team, A) I only replaced Weideman with vandenBerg without worrying about placement to get as many fan-favs in the team as possible and B) I'm not the coach, harry000 is, he has final say. And if anyone who paid attention to the game thinks my votes are wrong, tell me. It'll just be up to me to listen.

19.18 132. 37 scoring shots. Any idea on the amount of inside 50s we had? Looks like Goody should take a look at how our e-Afl team sets up and uses the ball.
SYD MEL
Hitouts : 11 20

Looks like you had a lot of shots from outside 50!

This is a quirk of the sim, i50s are usually less than scoring shots

Round 2 game thread up. This game will be played on Wednesday with the team named tomorrow.

Round 3 team is up

Stats from round 3. Big win over the Eagles has us sitting in third place.

  • In a comparatively small-fry arm wrestle, J Viney beat L Shuey today - but not by much. - 14m from 0 to 14.
  • While not all all one-way, J Viney came out tops over the brave T Barrass. - 82m from 17 to 99.
  • Bordering on a training run, JJ Kennedy did a demolition job on S May. - 69m from 10 to 79.
  • Despite neither player having much impact, L Jetta was easily the winner in the clash with K Pickett. - 61m from 33 to 94.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, L Shuey was slightly more polished than K Pickett. - 1m from 16 to 17.
  • In a comparatively small-fry arm wrestle, M Brown did well against L Duggan. - 59m from 35 to 94.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, N Jetta came out tops over the brave L Ryan. - 43m from 56 to 99.
  • While overall a quiet day for both players, I'm not sure that what S May did to L Shuey should be entirely legal. - 8m from 91 to 99.
  • In an epic battle, not much between M Gawn and N Naitanui - the former was probably a smidgeon better. - 99m from 0 to 99.
  • While worlds weren't set on fire, T McDonald massacred S Hurn. - 9m from 15 to 24.
  • Spending most of the game pushing and shoving each other, T Barrass beat T McDonald today - but not by much. - 2m from 6 to 8.

Round 4 game thread against the Bombers is up! Get around it

Mitch Brown out and Lockhart into the pocket is my first though.
Here are the Median scores across every position from every eGame so far and how the players stack up against them.

So if you're dropping Brown, can we drop Brayshaw and demote Tomlinson to a bench spot maybe? Though he's not that much behind the median. And possibly bring Spargo back.
