They just signed Grundy to 1 mill per year for the next century.

Degoey is going to cost them min 600-700 a year.

Moore min700 a year.

Unless I am missing something with a reduced cap next year how do they then fit Gunstons 650 a year in unless Moore or Degoey are leaving?????

Nothing about bringing in Gunston and then signing Moore and Degoey makes any sense to me.

I smell a rat.
they did have a lot of money tied up with Dayne Beams which they won't have to worry about next year?

i think a lot of who we target will be dictated by what Smith does

even if he does stay our wings will still be Scully (who will be 30), Smith (well over 30) and Harry (at this point in his career best as depth), so we're going to need some solutions in the next 2-3 offseasons

phillips fallen off the pies' radar a bit but he's certainly an upgrade on Harry and if he can be got cheaply i see no reason why we shouldnt give it a crack if nothing else becomes available

I'd consider dealing Gunston if we could parlay part of what we got in a deal into getting Zach Merrett or similar.

Gunston + 2021 third for Stephenson + Phillips + 2021 first

Parlay Pies 2021 first + our 2022 first to Dons for Merrett.

Hawks get: Merrett, Stephenson, Phillips, keep our 2021 first.
Pies get: Gunston, 2021 third, decent cap relief
Bombers get: Pies 2021 first, Hawks 2022 first.

Not a deal Pies or Bombers would normally do, but with cap circumstances and Dons Merrett smoke who knows.

I reckon Pies would fairly happily deal Stephenson, Phillips and a first while they're in the window to not only bring Gunston in (who to be frank would be perfect for them) but to also get Moore and JDG over the line.

Fantasyland HYPOTHETICAL stuff of course and we'd miss our pick in 2022, but it wouldn't be a bad mini rejuvenation.

Can't deal 2022 picks in this off season

Discussing Moore is incredibly farfetched.

He is quite possibly the Pies most required player at this stage. They would laugh us out of the room for even mentioning his name.

I would say Moore is just as important to them as Gunston is to us. In addition, Gunston is extremely durable where as Moore has been very injury prone.

Wouldn't happen anyway but a swap of these 2 players would be in Collingwoods favour in my opinion.

Possibly but its a moot point comparing the importance of the two because the reason they would be bringing in Gunston would be to get them some extra scoring punch in an attempt to win a flag. They're not trading out arguably their most important player to do that, its totally counter productive.

Only way I'm letting Gunston go to Collingwood is if we get Grundy in return. Obviously we give up a litte more too but that's what we need.

Grundy also needs to renegotiate to get a ruckmans contract though, ruckman have no business demanding Buddy or GAJ money,i don't care how good there are.

Re Darcy Moore no club is trading there promo players it would only be if the player requested to leave, Then they would look for the best trade.

The last bit is wrong. Moore looks over injuries & has far greater value on the open market, if only due to age.

Jack will stay imo.

Trading Gunston and/or Breust for draft picks would probably guarantee us the first draft pick in 2021. Our forward line needs strengthening not destroying. Any trade scenario should have the objective of strengthening our list not weakening it. I think we can bring in exciting new talent without sacrificing our best forwards.

Only trade him if he asks to go. Then go full Dodo - Stevenson and their first! But give them back some thirds
Exactly what i was thinking. They have heaps of Stevenson types and we dont have any. Plus he's on the outta. Love it

i really love gunners and would hate to see him playing for collngwood but a first rounder on top of something else is pretty bloody enticing

nah I honestly believe we need him - lets be totally honest who will kick goals next year - Patton, Lewis, TOB unreliable and not durable enough - you need these senior blokes on each line - there is no way I would trade him - he has a lot of good footy ahead of him

look at suns / GWS full of first rounders but unless you have good A graders around them - you see the results - wasn’t everyone saying when GWS started they will be that good they will win 5 flags in a row - an old coach told me whenI was a kid a champion team will beat a team of champions
