I'm not, with how much cap space we have& Smith's form preinjury I'm fine with it.More upset with Clarkson for upping our offer than Smith for choosing Geelong if I'm honest.

No, it’s saying that if you are still in the best 22 and we don’t want you to leave, we’ll pay appropriately.Because it sets a very bad precedent. Not only have we blown the rule of one year contracts once you hit 30, we're now saying the final offer isn't the final offer at all.

This isn’t buying a used car where you can walk away and buy another one around the corner
Who said our offer was our final offer?Because it sets a very bad precedent. Not only have we blown the rule of one year contracts once you hit 30, we're now saying the final offer isn't the final offer at all.
Polec will cost more money and is a worse player, Phillips is probably no cheaper either and again a worse player but he at least has age on his side. We have to trade for him though.I mean it literally is though. North are desperate to move Polec on, Collingwood have pushed Phillips out the door. Smith isn't the be all end all.

North will pay some of it but they are not giving him away for free and paying a 'huge amount'North are willing to pay a huge amount of the contract, Phillips won't be anywhere near the amount Smith is being offered.
In both cases, you’re getting Toyota when you already own a BMW. It will work, but a massive downgradeI mean it literally is though. North are desperate to move Polec on, Collingwood have pushed Phillips out the door. Smith isn't the be all end all.

There’s a reason why Phillips and Polec aren’t being linked to anyone yet. The best wingman available is running around for us and the others are back up.Have you ever found a reliable used BMW?
And it it comes to that, we’ll have to have a lookYeah but your BMW also wants a new owner so you need a new car
the difference between smith and other over 30s is that he's a free agent, has a future in our best 22 and has suitors from other clubs we need to fend off
the same was not the case for anyone else
also didnt we offer lewis 2 years as well when melbourne offered 3?
The AFL shouldn’t allow that at all, especially as these deals are being made after it’s known a reduction will happen. Last year sure, this year any FA signed should have the full amount come out of the cap for the whole contract. No reductions allowed. The Saints are banking on if the salary cap reduces by say 20% then all contracts will reduce by 20%
I mean how dare he try and keep I wanted/needed player.Clarko spinning wheels trying to retain him too. Doesn't sit well with me.
WHY WHY WHY
Would you want to go there seriously!
1 flag in their pathetic history & on the cusp of another false dawn!
i'll spew if Smith ends up at Geelong.
I also have a bad feeling we won't even attempt to land a Phillips or Polec type and just run with a wing rotation of Scully, Moore and Downie next season.
