Understand the disappointment coming out of Friday night but not sure about the full doom and gloom. This season is and will continue to be super unpredictable, as we've seen this afternoon a game has been cancelled and shuffled around (Rich v WCE that is). More changes will follow as this season progresses just need to keep the head down and continue putting the best team on the park each week.

Looking ahead we have two games at the G against the Dons and the Lions, before heading to Perth where we will face a weakened Geelong side, who have lost Stewart and not been playing great themselves, Freo a young side we will start favorites against and the eagles who will be tougher challenge back in Perth but having a poor season thus far. We could easily take 4 wins out of our next 5 matches and be sitting pretty with six wins (and a draw) in hand from the first 8/9 games of the season. Hardly panic stations.

LOL so OP will offer 100-1 for a Pies flag then?

Still the best defence in the AFL. Very good midfield and the forwards are getting there. Not sure about our ruck though ;).
I’ll put $20 on that.

This is one of the most talented Pies sides I have seen, in terms of overall foot skills, the best. But they will never flag IMO as long as they are coached by Buckley under the McGuire presidency. Put simply, we lack the killer instinct, the club is too nice, too focused on non footy matters and has lost its way.

Watching the players smile and laugh with GWS players post game made me sick. Yeah I am old school but every flag side has that ruthless edge to them, the Pies under Buckely simply do not.

While I don’t agree with all you’ve said, I do agree about the ruthless edge. I think this was also evident in our failure to delist some players at the end of 2019. It’s a difficult balance for a footy club - being brutal versus providing a supportive and inclusive environment - but we probably need more of the former. Premiership teams are killer teams. They’re not out to make friends.

which means nothing because of the inequity.
It means everything. Its not equal? teams playing once each other. Every team on the road at some point. It is what it is. You deal with it. Its a year like no other, doesn't mean it means any less.

You think the players will see a trophy and medals, and think, oh, it means nothing? Whomever wins this, will always remember it.

They might enjoy it but any observer with any grey matter knows that whoever wins will be blessed with a huge chunk of luck and some teams will be given no chance because of the obstacles. It is meaningless so don't listen to the commentators trying to convince you otherwise.

I don't let anyone influence what I think. This is how I see it. I'm not the only one. Sometimes luck is a good thing. But all teams have obstacles. Hubs, injuries or whatever the case may be. Just enjoy it for while we have it. It's better than no football at all.

believe what you like, but it's just not how I see it. Nor does, you know, the players. You deal with the situation. We can't control what the world is going through at the moment, but we can control giving fans some fun and entertainment during this period.

This season feels like little more than a corporate commitment to me. I just can't bring myself to be too excited by it, or disappointed.

But that's just me, miserable prick that I am, and I don't think think that anyone should try and dissuade you from your way of seeing things. You are certainly a passionate supporter, and the club is lucky to have you.

Well the season is only being played to fulfill broadcasting rights obligations, in order for the AFL to get their cash and alternatively the players.
I wonder if there was a reserve cash flow at the AFL, where the players could get their full quota of payment without actually playing, whether the players would have wanted to go ahead with a season.

I must admit to losing interest, now that even the senior players can’t be bothered taking it seriously. A club who is prepared to make the necessary sacrifices will likely win and rightly so.

The Season is once again on a knife edge, think it will continue but, it cannot take perhaps even one more setback

Doubt the season will get Completed anyway now

I'm not sure it's time yet to be running nice warm baths and setting the Leonard Cohen albums to play on repeat.

One week at a time.

After watching last night there bit to this.

With Howe gone for the Season we can Throw Moore Forward and that mean we won't see the Crap Forward line get any better anytime soon

The players who win the premiership this year will deserve it perhaps more than any other year.

With all the hubs and uncertainty and extra restrictions on players it's never been tougher. I don't see our players with that manic drive to be the premiership team.
